Gabe Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I'm always doing that! Also, your WIP looks awesome so far! Thanks, glad you like it! I'll try to post regular updates as it progresses. Btw, i think you mentioned obsidian weapons? Don't know if anyone in GoH has predominantly used them, but there's certainly nothing stopping you! But then people wouldn't be able to post feedback, tips, and advice! Actually, if we couldn't chat, wouldn't there be no GoH and the guilds? Uhh, yeah, but there's useful chat that adds something to the thread, and then there's social chatter about how close you are to making an arbitary number of posts etc. We aim for quality over quantity here, so please, think before you hit that post button! If you are talking to one other member only, PM them directly. If your post isn't of interest to many of the Kaliphlin members, then perhaps hold your fire. Yeah i know the line gets a bit blurred sometimes, but i submit that if your post is a single line of off-topic text, then perhaps the thread isn't the best place for it. I'm not saying don't contribute btw, just try to keep it relevant and interesting. Ahh Man! All these goats are making me jealous! I've wanted one for awhile but missed out on the set they were in and now they cost too much on Bricklink and Ebay! I will never understand why they retired the goat mold... it's such a beauty. Maybe it's a bit like the colour palette, where they only have a certain number of active colours, and new ones displace the old? ps. Yay, the battle thread continues! Sad to see my general knocked out, but that's the way the cookie crumbles i guess. Quote

I know on Brick Forge, there are a few other barnyard animal molds if you guys are interested and most likely a surplus of Goats on BrickLink. Quote
-Horizon- Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) So is anyone else in Kaliphlin working on their mount? Edited July 30, 2014 by lego3364 Quote
Yzalirk Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 So is anyone else in Kaliphlin working on their mount? Sadly, no. I'm stumped right now with names for my little faction, Lord Vladivus said he'd help with tons of names for stuff to help me and I haven't heard from him via PM in two days... Quote
MassEditor Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) Wow, y'all are a talkative bunch over here! Gabe, looks like your SG build is going to be stellar. Love that rockwork (sorry Torgar, I might have to "borrow" some of your techniques too) and the coloration is very well done. I'm definitely going to take note of this build and try to incorporate a bit more color into in some future rockwork MOCs. Can't wait to see yours done! And Kabel, you tease! Love that photo with the wolf rider, so much adventure there. You gonna let us see more?? Edited July 30, 2014 by MassEditor Quote

gedren_y Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I have finished my Sultan's Gate build, which is also the first of the Quest for the Egg builds. I'll be photographing it tomorrow, and should have my thread posted before midnight Pacific time. Quote

Maxim I Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Yeey, my last day at work!! (student work) From next week monday on, I will paint the house so I have every day access to my bricks  Quote

Mike S Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I updated Masa's bio in my profile and plan to add links to the MOCs at a later time as well as chronicling Masa's further exploits there in the future. While the wikia is nice it is sometimes slow and I thought it might be good to keep an easily updated bio of my character and influential characters here on Eurobricks. Another idea would for me to put a link in my signature to Masa's page on the wikia. Finished up my Sultan's Gate build (just on time!): Nice build! Quote

Yzalirk Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Out of curiosity, which parts and pieces should I buy to build Kaliphlin stuff? I'm at a budget of around $400, maybe a bit more, and I want to get the most stuff I possibly can. I'm also going to be getting lots of minifigs, like the Uruk Hai minifigs for my own little tribe. And really good sellers on BrickLink I should look at that has cheap pieces and has an abundant supply of stuff? Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Depends where you're building- and what your tribe is like. Do they have ramshackle wooden structures, or mighty stone fortifications? Are they in the mountains, or the desert? Quote

The mountains and the desert both seem awesome so I'm not too sure just yet. Quote
kabel Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Maybe you should start small with what you got and see where you can go from there slowly developing your own style. Start with a house your character lives in. I've actually found that running into piece shortages of some sort is what really kick starts the creative process. Quote

Okay, I have a decent amount of tan and light gray pieces but not so much of plates. I have four green baseplates so it may interfere with the Kaliphlin environment but I suppose I could use miscellaneous bricks (like white, red, blue, ect) and use plates on top of it. Quote
Gideon Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I agree that starting relatively small and expanding the collection based on how your style develops is a good idea. I had relatively few tan/dark tan pieces when I joined Kaliphlin but as I find out what pieces I usually need more of I tend to visit the tan and dark tan categories each time I make a BL order and see if they have reasonably prized pieces that complement my style Quote
