Tom Jurassic Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Exactly mate, I agree 100%. Might get Batons and Nightsticks with these guys, look at the CMF British Bobby. Also, two words to help you out. Brick Arms. ;) Tom Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 You forgot about the paint ball gun from the collectable minifigs.....possible pepper ball gun. Remember that Lego doesn't like real guns in Lego city at all. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Yeah. :( Still, nothing a £20 Brickarms order didn't fix for me, haha! :P Would be nice to see Tazers, since a lot of Police use them standard now. I really hope we see some Police Equipment in these rehashes. Quote
kermit Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I dont think lego will ever chance their stance on not giving their police minifigures weapons, even batons or pepper spray. Thre person who saw the retail catalog didnt mention any new accessories for the police so it is safe to assume that they will be getting handcuffs only. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 The person who saw the retail catalog didnt mention any new accessories for the police so it is safe to assume that they will be getting handcuffs only. To be honest, as soon as I saw more police sets which did not look much different to the last wave of police sets, I just turned the page, th only police set which I though looked ok, was the 4x4 with trailer and boat. But the boat was quite big, It will potentially give us this part http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=62812 in white which I think will be a new colour. Quote
jonwil Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I home some of the City Vehicles sets next year include the new set of tools (the one used in the Octan Race Truck) as they are cool and I could always use more tools for my projects :) Quote

The 4x4 must be a six wide ? Quote

paul_delahaye Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) Paul Delahaye-How looks that police jeep from police boat transporter? Is big?How many studs is wide? Thanks for reply. Sorry, can't recall, it was 4 or 6 but that would be everyones guess, it won't be long now, the first 2014 star wars sets from the resellers catalogue have now ended up on Flickr, so I'm sure we will see the rest within a week or two now. CityBuilder Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Is the pick up truck that is breaking someone out of the new police station 4 bricks wide or 6 bricks wide? Quote
paul_delahaye Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Is the pick up truck that is breaking someone out of the new police station 4 bricks wide or 6 bricks wide? 4 from memory and it was either Dark Red or Orange, but I could easily be confusing it Quote
Jargo Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 In the Series 11 Collectable Minifigures isn't cop, this is British Bobby. LOL. It's often stated that British policemen were called Bobby after the founder of the British police force, Robert 'Bobby' Peel. However the name 'Bobby' is much older. Town Beadles in the early 1800's carried a cane and were charged with keeping order in the town square. They would beat street urchins with the cane to drive them off the square. The Urchins would call the Beadles 'Bobby Beadle'. The word 'Bobby' is an old English word for hitting or beating. So in fact the name Bobby when referring to British policemen is referencing the stick they carry whether you call it a nightstick, a truncheon or a baton. This is also why the a Policeman's patrol is referred to as 'on the beat'. Sorry to go off topic. Just wanted to clear that up. Quote

kermit Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I wonder if the lego city designers get tired of making police and fire sets every year? Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I wonder if the lego city designers get tired of making police and fire sets every year? They believe it's what kids want......police and fire sets, and in a way when I was a kid.....it was fire trucks that fuelled my Lego habit all those years ago (classic town yellow fire station ). My son back in 2008 saw the ad on Cartoon Network for the then new police station.....he loved the bit about the crooks escaping from the jail cells and being chased by the police....you can guess what he got for his birthday two months later right ? I feel it's us AFOL's that are getting tired of these sets and wish for different sub-themes......remember the age range on the box art usually state 6-10 or alike so from that we can sort understand that a police station release one year might have to be different three or four years later to satisfy the wants of the next generation of KFOL's. It's funny, because even as a young tyke, I preferred 'everyday' sets. Post Offices, Restaurants, etc. Nowadays, though, it's a case of Classic Town = Creator Modulars & Friends, rather than Classic Town = City. Quote
kermit Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I understand what you mean but I was referring to the lego designers and whether seeing that the next wave is more police and fire if they get get fed up having to build the same theme every year. I am sure they are itching to build some different cits sets other than police and fire. Like mentioned above a post office series or a restaurant series. Quote
1974 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 TLG belives that the ONLY thing that sells is conflict. Unless you're a girl, then it's pink. They make billions of that strategy so what do I know? I would really like to send TLG a Playmobil catalogue Quote

Although it's even better if it is conflict and wheels. Just so long as it isn't real world style wheeled conflict? Sometimes this makes my head hurt. Quote
