Marcel1980 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Well im new to the nee technics parts and some parts i just dont know how to put to good use. Right now im trying to make a 4x4 trial truck with tatra suspension. Maybe hard to start of with but i like a good challenge. So i made the front axle with tatra suspension. Im pleased with the design and its very strong. Als the prototype for the chassis is also very strong but very narrow... The biggest problem is the steering with height difference of the supension. I tried a lot with the parts i have but just can not make it work...you guys got any suggestions? Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 First will this be a 4x4, 6x6 or 8x8? If it has only 1 steered axle, than you can easily align steering rack in front of the drive axles and use 6L links. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Wellcome to the Tatra steering world , is the hardest part to build on Tatras if you want to do a perfect geometry of course. I have done 4 Tatras until now and all of them with perfect steering but I can´t explain very well in english sorry... you can see the pics and ask if you want. Quote
Marcel1980 Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Well its going to be a 4 wheel drive with one steering axle. Thats it. Ik know it the hardest part, thats why start with it! I tried the 6 link but it comes so close to the centre that there is no room lef for a beam for the steering. Its going in such a wierd place that i have no clue how to build it in... Also the angle of the wheels are not that good. Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Try using the small 3L steering rack with towballs. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 If you going to do a 4 wheel drive you will have less problems. I have problems when I build more than one steering axle. My advice is the unimog pieces are bad you can do better custom axles without them. Quote
