brickie Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I am attempting to build the Island Of Sodor for BrisBricks 2013 in October. This is my attempt at building the main station on Sodor. I need to give ii a name; any suggestions? Quote
ScotNick Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) Maybe Knapford? At least that's the name of the big station on Sodor. Do you already have engines and rolling stock, or are you building on them? Looks good so far, brick on! Edited July 28, 2013 by ScotNick Quote
Kintobor Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Very impressive! Yes, if memory serves me correctly, I believe it was Knapford, although knowing now that everything these days has a wiki, I'm certain you could find out with a google search. Quote
Esurient Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Great work on the roof! Nice use of bluecoat and redcoat flags as well! Quote
Heppeng Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Knapford I think was the terminus of Thomas's branch line. The name of the big terminus at the end of the main line was Tidmouth. Quote
timmyc1983 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Awesome station, fantastic use of the monorail tracks! And I love the overall look of the platform Re: the name. wikipedia has much information on the 'current' layout of the island: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodor_(fictional_island)#Current_system_.28passenger.29 I look forward to seeing your project grow, happy building Quote
Kristel Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 This is a great idea. I love how you have used the monorail tracks. I'm looking forward to seeing the full Island of Sodor later this year! Quote
brickie Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) Do you already have engines and rolling stock, or are you building on them? Thank you for the encouraging responses. ScotNick, I have placed all of the Duplo Thomas trains on 9V motors so they will be moving around the 4 tracks on the display. I have made carriages 8 studs wide to be the same width as the Duplo trains. One of our BrisBrick members has a lego built Thomas, Annie and Clarabelle so they will fit in well on the island. The name of the big terminus at the end of the main line was Tidmouth. This is firming as the name for the station. I am now working on Ffarquhar station in the countryside. I love how you have used the monorail tracks. Securing the tracks firmly in the vertical position was the biggest challenge. There were many, many efforts at doing this before a solution was reached. lightningtiger Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Not bad station 'brickie', great roof design......what else is planned ? Brick On ! Quote
brickie Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 ....what else is planned ? Brick On ! A working circular windmill is keeping me awake at nights. It may end up being a square windmill. The harbour and lighthouse is almost finished; only the fine details on the coastline to go. Quote
