lostdriveway Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 Feels like a mini Assembly Square.... I'll still get it but I'm a bit meh about it Quote
Hippocampe Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 I’m somewhat disappointed about the whole product: bland color scheme, too reminiscent of former Modular that yet I loved when they were produced (AS and BH), like a déjà vu experience… I loved building BH with all the angles, the curves, terrific new techniques, overall design and the curb appeal; same thing with AS; the alley that was “real” in AS, here it seems like an afterthought, too squeezed between the 2 buildings. Maybe the interiors will convince me, but I’m not sold on it yet, even though I’ve got all the others. Quote
HibiscusDrive Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 It's nice. I like it. But it doesn't wow me. I love the angles, and have really been drawn to odd lego angles lately, but I wonder why they built something so similar to BH so soon after. It even has a balcony like BH. Those are my initial impressions but I'd like to reserve judgment for when we see all the images. My town is running out of space, and I have been building some amazing mocs from rebrickable. I might be passing on this one. But I do like it. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 I love the use.of space on the rooftop with the pigeons and their coop/house and what looks like a small garden area. Quote
dariomatzke Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 I think this one will grow on me with time, but initial impressions are that it looks great, just maybe not amazing. My main critique is the color palette, could've avoided that. Otherwise, I love angles and the way the walls are constructed looks interesting. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 I agree with the notion that this is the offspring of BH and AS. It looks fairly nice, although I am not in as much a hurry to get it as I was Tudor Corner. This could be a midyear purchase. If the music store is "Brickley's" as evidenced by the horn, then that would mean the smaller building is the furniture store? There would not be much room for furniture judging by the building dimensions. Quote
Toast Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Modular looks nice. Not my favorite but I think it'll pair well with Boutique Hotel, Assembly Square, Tudor Corner, and Brick Cross train station. Now I'm curious what the GWP will be and if it'll release on day 1 like last year. Hopefully it's a vehicle and not another vendor stand, but it's looking like Lego changed directions on the GWP. Tudor Corner was very nice in my opinion but this one is an even clearer day one buy for me. I also very much love the TC. But I feel the current one and the TC are in two different categories, IMHO. 9 hours ago, RichardGoring said: Love it! I suspect that the interiors will feel small, and the top floor attic looks to be really tiny, but the overall impression is great. Lots of techniques, angles, curves, and some lovely colour blocking. And a white pigeon, as well as a grey one! My fear as well. Also, I would have wanted a larger plaza but that is just me nitpicking. 9 hours ago, FrkW said: This really is the golden age of modulars, can't wait to see the inside. I love it too. But when you have the Jazz Club, the bar is set low. LOLOL. 9 hours ago, ddavid said: Weirdly, it looks kinda like those Modulars from Chinese off-brand Legos. But in a good way One of my initial thoughts as well... just like the ones that keep popping up on Reddit in between posts about authentic Lego. And especially that one which has the figurines that look halfway between Lego and Playmobil. LOL 8 hours ago, Vindicare said: I really like it. It’s very reminiscent of a design idea of the Boutique Hotel. Love the dark orange/tan combo. And dark blue on the roof is great. Sand green is always a good decision. Love the layout of the buildings. It looks like they’re connected, but it also vaguely looks like there might be a walkway between(or steps getting into the music shop). I was looking over my city wondering where to put it. I was hoping it would be a 32x32 because that would be easiest. But with the name, I figured it would be at least 48…so I have some work ahead of me. Was reading a comment on Reddit that one of the flat sides of this one might go well with that of the BH. I'm also really interested if that alley leads to some other feature in future builds. Quote
HibiscusDrive Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 When the set is officially unveiled, I'm hopeful we'll learn something about the two kids in matching purple outfits, one wearing a band hat. I guess the band outfits would purchase instruments at the store, but all they've got so far is ice cream. The cat statue seems odd too. Quote
badbob001 Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 This new modular may have the most mature theme yet. Note the rat that is about to be murdered with a wrench. With that ominous thought in mind, what other scenes of evil and potential misdeeds could be represented here? That figure on the roof looks like a mastermind that is about to set in motion a rube goldberg of bloody consequences. Quote
hikouki Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Looking at it more, with just that one photo, I am thinking it somehow looks 'incomplete' in the sense that it really needs a building to its left and another to its right to complement it. Not a bad thing though. But excited to see how Lego integrates it both now and in the future in the modular street. Quote

PGBQW Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 I like how it looks, but I don't think I understand what the buildings are supposed to be Quote
Roebuck Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Unless they use them for furniture etc inside the buildings, I was expecting the set to take advantage of all the new plant parts that are coming out this days and make something cool with them Quote

Do you mean that from like a realistic perspective, or that you just prefer easily identifiable buildings in Lego? Because where I'm from the buildings are old and rebuilt or repurposed multiple times. The only way to identify the type of shop is by signs or window displays and on top it's apartments or office space, usually pretty anonymous. I think that might actually be part of why I like this, hotels and museums are easy identifiable but the rest of city centres usually aren't. Quote

My main critique is the color palette, could've avoided that. Otherwise, I love angles and the way the walls are constructed looks interesting. I agree, the color palette seems a bit wild to me. And yeah, the narrow street's angle is pretty good. It reminds me of streets downtown where I live, a feature of European cities I like a lot. I can see how the music shop's building is similar to the Boutique Hotel. The art nouveau style, the angle, the rounded end with the dome and even the two flags on the first floor are all clear references. Yet, with this palette and a few changes, it looks more like a building I'd see in France (although a bit squished here), while the Boutique Hotel has more Spanish vibes. I do like the large window on the first floor a lot too! I've seen that kind of window on a lot of shops in old buildings. I'm a bit disappointed that we're having a second shop for musical instruments after AS. Yet, from the looks of it, it feels like the designers had a field day making brick-built instruments (and furnitures). It's something they've done with the clocks in the Tudor Corner and with the plants in the Botanical Garden Ideas set. I'm going to guess the trombone in the Star Trek Enterprise set is a product of that same brainstorming session. As someone else noted, the two kids seem to be part of a band. That's a cool detail for minifigs in this modular's theme. The ice creams they're eating hints at an ice cream parlor nearby. Maybe at the end of the narrow street? Or a reference to the ice cream stand in GE. Regarding the windows on the ground floor of the music shop, I'm not sure if they're made of new tall window frames with printed windows, or printed 1x2x5 tall bricks. Either way is pretty cool. I love that we're getting a new pigeon color for this set (I missed buying some grey ones in PAB, they're out of stock in Europe for now). I also just noticed something that people who may want to part out GG will be happy about. They're bringing back the modified 1x2 brick with groove in sand green. A few other parts of older modulars in rare colors have been showing up again lately too. Lastly, I'm really curious about what the tie-in GWP will be. I'm hoping Lego will keep it vaguely related to the main set like they did with the previous 4, instead of being a DLC that was cut out of it... Ngl, I'm not liking that new trend Lego is following with on-launch GWP that connects to the main set (the Gringotts UCS, the Death Star UCS and the Icons aquarium). PK82 Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 (edited) The larger building reminds me a bit of the Flatiron Building. Not a fan of the colour scheme, though. The smaller building reminds me more of Corner Garage. And lots of negative space. Edited December 3, 2025 by PK82 Quote
Lion King Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 I don’t think that cat statue is that odd? I feel it’s more suitable for the shopping area, rather than public services like library, hospital, school, museum, courthouse, town hall. That cat statue looks more charming. Quote
Pauolo Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Looking at the reveal picture again, that name certainly fits the looks. Those buildings look at home in a busy shopping district. They certainly remind me of some shopping streets in France. Quote
Elysiumfountain Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 I always know when the new modular is leaked or revealed because 45 email notifications from Eurobricks all hit my email at once! That being said, I was not expecting the design to have the type of angled design that it does, I like that. The furniture store building's upper floor is really cool with those window techniques and the railings at the top. I love the music store's trumpet sign. The only thing that looks a bit weird is the dome on top. It seems a little to short and small for the tower it's on (although I know it's holding up the top portion). Can't wait to see the interior photos! Quote
Lion King Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Is Natural History Museum going to be retired by end of this month? If so, I see that it’s on “Backorder” status. Quote

I have the original Diagon Alley and was tempted to sell those pieces, so this helps determine that I will in fact keep it and not go through the hassle. I also got a used (good quality) GG recently for $300. I wonder how much the prices for it will drop now. Quote
