Jeka Jackson Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Hi everyone! I'm glad to represent my 4 speed sequential gearbox using servo motor in its shift gear mechanism. Gear rations: 1 - 1:5 2 - 1:3 3 - 3:5 4 - 1:1 Photo & video you can see here: http://www.doublebrick.ru/blogs/jackson/4-h-stupenchataya Quote
allanp Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Nice. How reliable is it? I saw the indexing mechanism on technicbricks a while back, very nice Quote

GuiliuG Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I would like to understand how it works ! Can you write a review of your invention explaining how everythings fits inside? Thanks in advance ! Quote

The base is the module, which has 6 fixed positions, but we need to get 4 (amount of gears), that's why it's necessary to use 24:16. To make the work of servo motor easier - 12:20 Added a new video (the same link at the beginning of that topic) Quote
GuiliuG Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Thanks, I have understood how it works. Great invention. Nevertheless, you should add a clutch mechanism because during gear change, two gears can be engaged at the same times ! Quote
piterx Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 i've tried building the old one you made and it was working great! congratulations dude! Quote

piterx Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 ah no you're right! it wasn't yours but i was already subscribed to your channel on youtube that's why i thought you made it ^^ Quote
jorgeopesi Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 (edited) Build gearboxes is fun, I have done three or four, but until you put them in a car you don´t see if they work well or poorly, having clutch is essential of course. An example with a car for more than 3 kg and a Sheepo gearbox with modifications. I like to see more videos working with the car, obviously failed MOC . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdM-xAMi1nc Edited July 9, 2013 by jorgeopesi Quote
piterx Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 i've tried the one i posted in the post above but the gearbox was actually multiplying the ratio instead of dividing it....so i should have inverted it....one day i'll work out how to make it work properly for a car use :) Quote

NXT45 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Hi guys! Nice gearbox! How long did it take you to make it? Would this work in a car? I tried to make a gearbox and I couldn't seem to get the right gear ratio from the L motor . It didn't have enough torque in the 3 and 4th gear. Happy building! NXT45 Quote
