skriblez Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Probably ain't going to be able to get this set it seems :( Quote
gerkenz Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Probably ain't going to be able to get this set it seems :( Why? - just call and ask what went wrong. I had some credit card problems before and after calling eveything went fine. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Not to sound negative, but I doubt that LEGO will re-release this set over the next months. Just think about it - why in the world would they mass produce a set which is all but guaranteed to annihilate the the sales of the 9398 Crawler? Not to speak that at the current price levels the profit margins on 41999 must be significantly lower than on 9398 because of all the exclusive parts and hand-packaging. 41999 is a great marketing tool for Technic helping to stir up interest in the brand, but that's where the buck ends, I think. I guess if the demand is extremely high that it is possible to bring the set back out in non numbered versions and perhaps change the box to the cheaper kind... Quote
N-4K0 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 People who buy as many sets as possible just to resell them for insane prices and earn money on other people's "needs", should be ashamed of themselves. But there's nothing we can do about it. If it hadn't been limited to 20.000 sets, TLG could have mass produced it and sold it cheaper so that all those who bought to resell at insane prices, also had to go down in price and didn't earn anything Quote
Paul Boratko Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) But you do make a good point about the 9398 sets getting left in the dark... People who buy as many sets as possible just to resell them for insane prices and earn money on other people's "needs", should be ashamed of themselves. But there's nothing we can do about it. If it hadn't been limited to 20.000 sets, TLG could have mass produced it and sold it cheaper so that all those who bought to resell at insane prices, also had to go down in price and didn't earn anything It is inevitable that the set would have increased in value at some point in time just like every other flagship technic set that was widely avaialable... Someone in the U.S. just listed a 41999 set on Ebay for $294 USD with free shipping... After Ebay and Paypal fees they are going to lose about $40 and then still have to pay to ship it... Hardly even worth trying to make a buck on... And then another guy listed one using the first guy's pictures with the auction ONE CENT cheaper with free shipping.... I figure there will be 50 auctions by the end of the day... Edited August 1, 2013 by Paul Boratko Quote
FuzzyBallz Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) Am I paranoid to think even though I got my order in 5-10 minute after it went live on the US S@H site, that I won't get my 41999. Should I drive over to Glendale this morning and buy the set at the LEGO store and if I get the shipment, I can always return it. Hmmmm. It is inevitable that the set would have increased in value at some point in time just like every other flagship technic set that was widely avaialable... Well, here's the thing. Even if I buy 2 sets, with the intention of reselling, the shipping cost alone will turn me off. I just returned the 9398 the other day and the cheapest cost to ship it back to LEGO was using UPS Ground, which cost me $50. That's crazy! Unless I charge double the cost of the set, tax, and shipping, the effort is just not the trouble! Edited August 1, 2013 by FuzzyBallz Quote
skriblez Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I have tried to put in an order at the Norwegian S@H so we will see now. Quote
Marcel1980 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 It was sold out in hours here in holland. Let hope that mine order placed at 00:01 was early enough! Quote
zux Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 ... If you are calling from abroad, please call our UK landline at 0044 (0) 1753 495 000... Thanks a lot for sharing this phone number! It helps you to get in touch with Customer Service when you don't have S@H in your country (just tested it to check why is my order still "Customer Service" status). Quote
peter_m Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 to check why is my order still "Customer Service" status). And why is it? :) Quote
Jim Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 It was sold out in hours here in holland. Let hope that mine order placed at 00:01 was early enough! Did you get an order confirmation? I ordered around 08u00 or something and do have a confirmation. Quote
zux Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 And why is it? :) The lady on the phone asked me if this was my first order (it wasn't) later she checked it and there was nothing wrong with my order. She told me orders are being checked and processed and advised me to wait a bit, so it should be fine tonight or tomorrow morning. Quote
z3_2drive Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Wow...Well all I wanted from this set was the wheels and maybe blue/chrome parts...hopefully some of those crazy resellers might sell individual parts on BL... Quote
peter_m Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I have asked Customer Support about the shipping date and they replied that sets will be shipped in chronological order - as I was one of the first to place an order I will get my set within 9 business days Quote

Meatman Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I was just told from Lego shop at home that they may have taken in more orders than they had sets. Quote
Eigenbroetler Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I am willing to bet 1/2 of the 41999 crawlers were bought by people who are not Technic fans and have no desire to build the model... I personally know 5 people who bought 2 of each of them with the sole purpose of reselling... I am in no way surprised that this sold out so quickly... Now thats just wrong. Greedy bastards. sorry for the language, but i dont like when people "buy the whole market" to be able to sell on for a HUGE profit. Sharing is caring, i only bought one set. i resisted the urge to make easy money and buying 2 sets. Quote

I have to admit, when I got up this morning, I wanted to get another one for a future investment, but they were sold out. People that are flipping them for a $25 profit right now on Ebay are stupid if you ask me. Quote
firetech Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Has anyone (besides gerkenz) gotten their order to shipped status yet? I guess that with "In Process" status, you've got an actual set reserved, but I won't be certain until I see "Shipped"... Quote
jadedomg Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I tried to order one this morning but alas out of stock :( I guess I will miss out on it, I will probably now try to just bricklink it and replace the blue with orange for a general lee type crawler. A few parts aren't in orange but I can figure that out. Quote

No profit at all for resellers. Quote
SheepEater Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I tried to order one this morning but alas out of stock :( I guess I will miss out on it, I will probably now try to just bricklink it and replace the blue with orange for a general lee type crawler. A few parts aren't in orange but I can figure that out. It says out of stock but I think you can still add it to your shopping bag. My story: I planned on placing my order last midnight. But the website experienced some heavy problems and long delays (there was a red error message acknowledging it). It also charged me for shipping, and tripled my taxes when it shouldn't. So I said, screw that, I'm waiting for the morning. So this morning (7h30, Eastern time) I placed an order without a hitch. But a few hours later I got an email that said it was out of stock and would ship later than expected. (But my order wasn't under verification or anything of the sort that happens when Lego gets suspicious) Assuming everything is fair and it's first come first serve basis, what are the odds of me getting my set? Can someone please reassure me Quote
