The_Skirrid Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Good news, everyone! The Mobile Crane Mark II is at Rebrickable. Have fun and get modding! Quote
merman Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 (edited) So it is always very temptimg to just buy the missing parts. It's cheaper but not in a relative way and I always regret it. And it saves space. But nothing beats a new Technic set.... Edited June 18, 2013 by merman Quote
AVCampos Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Still, so far the red 8T gears are only available in this set, and the L motor in only one other set (but a lot more expensive). Quote
merman Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 (edited) Yes but the gear won't be extremely expensive at TLG. And don't forget the black 16L axles and the new yellow panels. Edited June 18, 2013 by merman Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I am only missing 30 parts or so,but I still will by the whole set. Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 if you were to get form bricklink...it would cost double the price Quote
Balrog Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I am missing roundabout 500 parts. I put the missing parts into my wishlist to check prices. At the seller who has the most different parts that I am missing, I would still need to buy for 160 euros to get complementing parts for the model. Unfortunately, I would still be missing a lot of parts then. Quote
750ACE Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 2 questions - Rebrickable says I am missing the L motor if I want to build the 42009 yet I own the 9398. I noticed the 9398 L-Motor part number is 99499c01 and the 42009 L-Motor part number is 99499. What is up with that? Second question, why are the 8T gears red, stronger plastic? Quote

Something seems off with the item number for the L motor, as well as for one panel. I couldn't add these items with the others to my BL wantedlist. The mould for the red 8T gear is the same as for the dbg 8T gear. It's is a new mold and the gears cannot slip into the recessive rim on liftarms, thus staying in position. Quote
AVCampos Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Second question, why are the 8T gears red, stronger plastic? Being red isn't the only difference: compared to the regular grey ones, those gears don't have friction and slide easily on axles. Red and grey 8T gears have the same relation as grey and black pins. Alasdair Ryan Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I missed out to mention that :) That is quite a big thing to forget...... Quote
Balrog Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 That is quite a big thing to forget...... It's definately tooooooo hot here! Still, can't wait to get the crane! Quote

I couldn't add these items with the others to my BL wantedlist. I'll amend the 42009 to use the correct motor, we try and follow BL numbering systems to keep the parts ordering simple and BL changed their part numbering for the motor recently. Hope this helps. Which panel couldn't you add Balrog?Oh, I'm at 94.3%, and I'm buying this bad boy. Nothing beats the smell of a new boxed set being opened. Edited June 18, 2013 by The_Skirrid Quote
merman Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 The settings were not automatically on exact parts match for me... It chose the 'close' option as a default... Quote

Balrog Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Which panel couldn't you add Balrog? It's the 64680. It's just the wrong panel, plus including it to my BL wanted list gave me an error. It should be the counterpart for 64683 or not? Quote

It should be the counterpart for 64683 or not? Nathan added the set, I'll check with him which it has and fix asap, I suspect it should have 2 x #3 and 2 x #4 fairings though. Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Does anyone know how the front window side bars are constructed? In the earlier pics 4 +ooo+ beams were used, but they do not appear in the parts list? Quote
therealjustin Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I'm only missing 590 parts! Not too bad! Can't wait to get this set. Quote

Correct - I have fixed it now. Does anyone know how the front window side bars are constructed? In the earlier pics 4 +ooo+ beams were used, but they do not appear in the parts list? I'll be posting a review and lots of photos of the build sometime in the next few days. I'm not at home right now or I would take a quick photo of that part for you :) Quote
AVCampos Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Conchas said on a few moments ago on his live building that the set comes with 12 of the new beams. Quote

Here's a photo of the front corner: http://i.imgur.com/G4OQUQh.jpg These 1x5 thin beams are in the parts list (part 32017). Quote
