So it is always very temptimg to just buy the missing parts. It's cheaper but not in a relative way and I always regret it. And it saves space. But nothing beats a new Technic set....

Yes but the gear won't be extremely expensive at TLG. And don't forget the black 16L axles and the new yellow panels.

I am missing roundabout 500 parts. I put the missing parts into my wishlist to check prices. At the seller who has the most different parts that I am missing, I would still need to buy for 160 euros to get complementing parts for the model. Unfortunately, I would still be missing a lot of parts then.

2 questions - Rebrickable says I am missing the L motor if I want to build the 42009 yet I own the 9398. I noticed the 9398 L-Motor part number is 99499c01 and the 42009 L-Motor part number is 99499. What is up with that? Second question, why are the 8T gears red, stronger plastic?

Something seems off with the item number for the L motor, as well as for one panel. I couldn't add these items with the others to my BL wantedlist.

The mould for the red 8T gear is the same as for the dbg 8T gear. It's is a new mold and the gears cannot slip into the recessive rim on liftarms, thus staying in position.

Being red isn't the only difference: compared to the regular grey ones, those gears don't have friction and slide easily on axles. Red and grey 8T gears have the same relation as grey and black pins.

I'll amend the 42009 to use the correct motor, we try and follow BL numbering systems to keep the parts ordering simple and BL changed their part numbering for the motor recently. Hope this helps. Which panel couldn't you add Balrog?

Oh, I'm at 94.3%, and I'm buying this bad boy. Nothing beats the smell of a new boxed set being opened.

It's the 64680. It's just the wrong panel, plus including it to my BL wanted list gave me an error. It should be the counterpart for 64683 or not?

Nathan added the set, I'll check with him which it has and fix asap, I suspect it should have 2 x #3 and 2 x #4 fairings though.

Correct - I have fixed it now.

Does anyone know how the front window side bars are constructed?

In the earlier pics 4 +ooo+ beams were used, but they do not appear in the parts list?

I'll be posting a review and lots of photos of the build sometime in the next few days. I'm not at home right now or I would take a quick photo of that part for you :)
