Alfadas Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I got it yesterday, build it and I love it! it is even better than on the box, IMO, so, I guess you can say a €230 well spend. Quote

LEGO Family Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Lovely review. And its so true that its impossible to imagine the size just looking at the pictures. I usually does not buy sets this big, and i mistly MOC. However afer having read this review and seen it real life in the LEGO shop, i just had to buy this set today. Now im looking forward to build it in the upcoming week. Oh, and i already got a glass cabinet for it, where it will probably rest till the end of days. Did i get it right that there is only some 4 spare parts left after completing the build ? Thanks in advance. :) Quote
lettuceman44 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Ok, so I like Lord of the Rings more than I like Star Wars. Big Big fan of Tolkien. But the lego sets just never drew me in......until now. *sigh* Gotta collect Star Wars and Lord of the Rings now. Quote
kermit Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I would like to get this set but it is just too tall to fit in with my castle sets. Quote

Lego Otaku Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I would like to get this set but it is just too tall to fit in with my castle sets. Too tall? It's too short!! If you were to go with the movie the LEGO tower would have to be a lot taller to fit the proportion. 5 or 6 feet maybe? Quote
LEGO Family Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Thanks for the lovely comment! I had rather more than four pieces left over: Youre welcome. :) I still havent putted mine together. Those left over bricks is more like what i would have thought. Thanks for answering. Quote
ep3_lol Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 My extra pile looked like Rufus' as well, lots of extra bricks Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 My plan was to get this like, 1 month from now as a Christmas Gift for myself. But I've heard that it's already discontinued, so should I get it as soon as possible? Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Where did you hear that I read a rumour about what sets are being discontinued, among them was the first wave of LOTR-sets and Orthanc, according to the one who posted the rumour. Quote
Deathleech Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I find it extremely hard to believe that Orthanc is being discontinued considering the set hasn't even been out 6 months yet. Most normal Lego sets are in circulation for at LEAST a year, with D2C sets often being longer. As for the first LotR wave, ya, it is being discontinued. At least some of the sets are. No real surprise there considering it's been out a year and a half now. Quote
Bobbtom Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Does anyone know if waiting for 2x points is a good idea for the Orthanc? I'm looking to get it to complete my collection, but don't know if its a good idea since many lego investors will probably buy them in droves once 2x points hit. Quote
