efferman Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 (edited) at saturday we had in my german homeforum a really funny truck trial race. unfortunately the timing system was not "efferman" proof so i have decided to design timing goals which are safe against two legged natural disasters. first the goal do you think it makes sense to build a platform for the start? Zerobricks Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I doubt the race results vary in miliseconds, hence I think its not needed. Quote
legomuppet9 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 but sometimes you may miss time it by a few seconds, which is where this could be useful, and as piterx said, it does look cool nice one effe Quote
efferman Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 i think it is very usefull in the case of an timekeeper which is rolling on floor and laughing. and btw, the distance between the second and third in the overall ranking was only two seconds. so it makes sense to have an exact timing system Quote
piterx Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 ahaha efferman who was the guy that was almost dying laughing XD? that guy made my day Quote
SteveNesta Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 It does indeed look very cool. It looks like it can take some serious weight also....like a tank ;-) Quote

legomuppet9 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Same with Britain. There doesn't seem to be many people, if any, building TT's here... Quote
Zerobricks Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 ahuahuahu i can't tell how much i'd love to be there to partecipate to something like that! in italy i know no one :\ Slovenia isnt far... I also LOVE TT races, we should have one in friday but it was canceled! Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Same with Britain. There doesn't seem to be many people, if any, building TT's here... I build TTs sometimes, I'm not very good yet but yeah I wish there was some races in Scotland. Quote
legomuppet9 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I'm south England, so that wouldn't work unfortunately Quote
KopMaister Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 it really adds some proffesionalism to a trial race. :P Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 For the next race Effe you must juse it , and than nobody can complane that the start was not legal. Quote
timslegos Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Although overkill, it looks awesome! But then again, most of what people build is overkill . tim Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 What if a truck doesn't click it until it gets to the top of the ramp? Or if the truck's body is very far front, away from the wheels? You should make a square and put a ultrasonic sensors on its side on the side of the box, so it senses the front of the truck, and should be moved up and down according to the front and where the front of the truck is, so if the grill is big and high, the ultrasonic sensor might not sense it, but if you adjusted it, it would not happen. But with this in mind, you would need to make a rule of no random things sticking out the front. Quote
efferman Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 well, we are talking about trial trucks and crawlers. the body of it should go easy over the panels which are activating the switch. and if not the body will activate the switch at the starting line too. so the time between start and goal should be the same to a truck which is activating it with the wheels. piterx Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 is there no italian lego forum? yeah there is one! but they're more focused on standard legos with minifigs rather than technic :\ i have an idea xD whenever you guys want to see Rome in your life, bring your trucks and call me Quote
cgg199 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I wish people near me (central England) did Trial Truck Races. I've designed a few, Zblj will know , but never really thought that there is much point building them. Quote
