Steam Engineer Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Hello all ;-) Just a quick post to ask your advice on what i could use to build masts for my MOC ship, i dont have the actual lego ones so i'm thinking until i get the money to buy them from bricklink maybe i can build my own out of some spare parts i already have lying around.... I'll post some pics of my ship so far on the MOC section of the forum X-D Meanwhile, any suggestions on what i could use for the masts would be much appreciated! Thanks Nick :-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 13, 2007 Governor Posted February 13, 2007 Greetings Mr Steam Engineer! I can't be of much help because I'm yet to build a MOC ship but there are some quite talent ship builders here who will be able to provide you with plenty of advice and suggestions. One thing though... This thread probably belongs in the Pirate LEGO MOCs sub-forum so it will get moved when Mr Tiber gets around to it! X-D Quote

This seems like a normal question to me... Well, back to your question Mr SE. I think this part can be very helpful to you: In order to make it strong, you should use technic axles. Aaron Morse, also uses these on the masts of his heavy frigate the Challenger. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 13, 2007 Governor Posted February 13, 2007 This thread's topic is a question regarding MOCing. The Making Sails Tutorial is in the Pirate LEGO MOC forum and the topic of this thread is piratically "How to make a mast" - so why should the thread about making sails go in the MOC forum but not one about making masts? Governor Mister Phes Posted February 13, 2007 Governor Posted February 13, 2007 You're absolutly right, topic moved! *sweet* Excellent work Mr Tiber! And to clarify to the entire world (yes, the entire world :-D) ALL unofficial LEGO creations (I.e. those which are not designed by The LEGO Group), WIP progress threads or threads regarding "How do I build..." should go in the Pirate LEGO MOC sub-forum. So take that world! :-P Quote
Steam Engineer Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 You think so? Where's the MOC? This seems like a normal question to me...Well, back to your question Mr SE. I think this part can be very helpful to you: IPB Image In order to make it strong, you should use technic axles. Aaron Morse, also uses these on the masts of his heavy frigate the Challenger. I was thinking of using that exact piece along with this part Support 2x2x11 just to add a little height, but i wasnt entirely sure if you could run a technic axle through the center of that support piece :-$ Nick *sweet* Quote
simonwillems Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I'm not so sure if it is possible to put a cross axle inside that big supportpiece but it sure adds to the height and saves numerous round bricks. Quote
El Bucanero Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Mr Steam, the description of this thread is Masts for my ship... Does that mean there already is a ship? If there is a ship already, don't forget to make a (progress)thread! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 14, 2007 Governor Posted February 14, 2007 Excellent suggestion Mr Tiber! Yes Mr Steam, create a new thread and show us what you're working on if you're able to take pictures. Quote
