autorazr Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Hey everybody, I know this has been done before, but I wanted to share my Purist Scooby Doo and the gang. It needs a Mystery Machine real bad, but I'm not up to it right now. Quote
Str0ngbad Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Nice! Shaggy doesn't look very... shaggy... though. Do you maybe have a face with a little stubble on it or something? Quote
TrumpetKing Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Perhaps the Series 9 Plumber's head would look good on Shaggy? Otherwise, it looks pretty good! I'd maybe use a longer hair piece for Daphne, too, though. Quote
Hammerstein NWC Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 These are splendid! I especially like hat you did with your villain! :) Quote
autorazr Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 @Str0ngbad, you're right, he isnt very shaggy, but putting scruffier faces on him makes him look so much older than the other characters. @TrumpetKing67, wish I had a better red hair piece, I have a dark red (maroon) long hair and the hair your avatar is wearing would be my only other options. The only long red hair I can think of is on the Elf Woman in series 9 but that's way too wild looking for Daphne. Quote
TrumpetKing Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I would probably say for now the long red hair that comes with Mill Village Rid would be the best (if you have it), or maybe if they ever come out with an orange version or Olivia's hair from the Friends theme, that might look good. I actually had no control over my avatar, by the way. Quote
JimBee Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Very cool minifigs, autorazr. I especially like the diver for added retro flavor. Quote
gedren_y Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 This (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=92083) is your best hair for Daphne. This (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb046) is the only head I know with a goatee without a mustashe, for Shaggy. Quote
Str0ngbad Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 @Str0ngbad, you're right, he isnt very shaggy, but putting scruffier faces on him makes him look so much older than the other characters. I see. Right now he looks a good deal younger to me but I'm not sure how else you could address it. This is the best head I can think of but it's not perfect and it still may make him look too old. Anyway, your gang is great and I love how you have them with the culprit tied and unmasked. Quote
oo7 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Some good work you put into these. I too love the unmasked Captain Cutler character you've included, but I think the "Elsa" hair would be the best choice for Daphne: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=twn171 And this head perhaps the best for Shaggy: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=col062 Quote
Tilly Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Very nice - instantly recognisable! And I especially like the sullen unmasked villain. If it weren't for you meddling kids........ Quote
autorazr Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 @gedren_y, there is also the painter guy from collectible minifgs with a tight goat, but his eye wrinkles made him look too old @oo7, I need that hair, and yeah originally I had that head on shaggy, but I had the same problem that he looked old. What are your feelings about using the purple bod on the elsa pic for daph? I had toyed around with that too, thought she might look a little too formal amidst the other characters though. Thanks everyone for the input, I will continue to improve these. Quote
LibraryBoy Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Clever! I particularly like your solutions for Fred's ascot and the villain. Quote
oo7 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 It seems I missed your earlier reply autorazr, thank you LibraryBoy for inadvertently bringing it to my attention. In reading your response, I mistook "formal" as "floral" initially, but, considering that one seems to constitute the other in this case, I think that the dark purple torso would go nicely, especially as Velma's is more flowery (and possibly formal) as well. You couldn't keep the purple legs however, you might consider a white tennis or cheerleader skirt for Daphne, and, come to think of it, the legs with the Spartan tunic pattern might be a good choice for Velma. Interestingly I've just looked at some source material for the sake of reference, and the pink jacket you have on Daphne here is remarkably similar to her reimagined outfit from the live action films. I understand your aversion to using the painter head with its crow's feet, but I think the character Shaggy is drawn with lines under his eyes as to make him appear disheveled, incidentally. I wouldn't worry so much on the conferred impression of age. Quote
