Wardancer Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) Hi Everyone, since there is some Elf talk going on here, I thought "Why not gather some useful info?" Elves have proliferated with the advent of the LOTR, but yellow heads have not. Fortunately, there are many official yellow heads that can be used for elves. Maybe there are many which YOU don't know. So I thought it might be fun to collect them here. I shall start. For me, every head is ok that has these cheeklines. I just ordered one of these: http://www.bricklink...e1-->3626bpb463 Edited February 17, 2013 by Wardancer Quote
Wardancer Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Good find! That is this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb428 Quote
Aanchir Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Personally, I'd prefer an army of elves to stick strictly to those with Medium Nougat cheek lines, like the original S3 Elf Warrior. Black ones just seem so much more garish in retrospect, and mixing the two makes the black cheek lines stand out even more. With that said, this page should more than get you started. Of the heads there, I think Chase McCain's is particularly good because it's still fairly subtle in expression, which fits with a lot of fantasy portrayals of elves. Other good ones include the Roman Soldier's and Heroic Knight's, the latter of which has a less subtle expression but could perhaps suit a more jovial elf like the Cluracaun from Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. Str0ngbad Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) Since I am of the evil fleshy persuasion, I'd love it if some suggestions were made for flesh heads as well. You yellow guys might be able to make use of of the CMF Ocean King Edit: Never mind. He's already on pg 2 of Aanchir's very helpful link. I'm specifically looking for a fleshy, elven face with gray eyebrows. All I've come across are Magneto and Gandalf and neither are quite right for it. Edited February 17, 2013 by Str0ngbad Quote

You Sir made my day. I did not expect bricklink terminology to be so precise that it is possible to seach for cheeklines. I also prefer nougat cheeklines but up to now I did not know that there are quite a few. Thank you! Soon I will order some to bring variety into my ranks. Any ideas for females anyone? Quote
Wardancer Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 You yellow guys might be able to make use of of the CMF Ocean King I like the lines, but I don't know about eyebrows. This leads to the question whether elves age or not... Hmm. Quote
Fantu Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I don´t have much to add now after the complete guide that Aanchir posted but I use some Exoforce heads for heroes or just more important people. When a minifig is using the elf hair (with pointed ears) I use any minifig head that has the proper expression for the situation because the pointed ears are screaming I´M ELF. So I spare some CMF3 Elf Heads to use with open helmets or hood because they don´t have point ears to say "I´m elf". Quote
Str0ngbad Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I like the lines, but I don't know about eyebrows. This leads to the question whether elves age or not... Hmm. In Middle Earth literature they do but it takes an incredibly long time or brutal conditions. Cirdan the Shipwright of the Grey Havens was old and grey and even had a beard. For your own elves of course, do whatever you like. I like them aging over centuries. Elves are almost too perfect already. :) Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 The Pharaon ...nice found! Quote
AmperZand Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) For my first elf minifig, I used one of the HP yellow heads (before the HP line turned fleshy). I think the HP character is called Malfoy. Link: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AmperZand/Fantasy/lego-elf-impulse-moc2.jpg I also use the Pharaoh's head as well as the S3 elf of course. Wardancer Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 There is a new elflike head with nougat cheek lines in the CMF 10 revolutionary fighter. Also the warrior woman has cheeklines, black ones though, but still female. Quote
jFox Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) The head of one of the figures from the Atlantis line has black cheek-lines, but more importantly a double-printed head! The back print is a scared expression, so your elves don't have to be so darned stoic all the time. Sometimes if a big troll or a dragon shows up, even the elves freak out! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb396 Edited February 28, 2013 by jFox Quote
FoggyNelson Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I've thought about this in flesh quite a lot. Aside from LOTR/Hobbit elf heads, one might use: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb289 or, for an elder, this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb037 Quote
Str0ngbad Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Thanks FoggyNelson. That second face may be just what I need for an elf I'm working on. Quote
8BrickMario Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 How about the Tactical Tennis Player's? Quote
