dokludi Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 The 42009 replica is ready. The functions work correctly. Pictures: High resolution pictures: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=522224 Toy Fair (New York) Update (EVO2) soon. Quote
Kronos Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Very impressive as usual! I've reverse engineered a couple models before, but it's a LONG process for me. I usually have MANY more pictures to work with too. Awesome job! Quote
jorgeopesi Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Great work as usual . Now you would have to do something more difficult, as your own MOC or copy some really complicated one. Quote
z3_2drive Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 HACKS! looks great, but I don't think I'll get this set... Quote
DLuders Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 @ dokludi: It looks nice! By chance, do you have the 8421 Mobile Crane set for a side-by-side comparison with the 42009 replica? Quote
Technic Gearhead Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Incredible job! Thanks for the early look once again. I love it! If he doesn't have the 8421 handy he can surely whip one up from that one image! Quote
Rishab N Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) This is simply amazing! Now you don't have to spend 220 dollars like the rest of us Edited February 12, 2013 by Rishab N Quote
davidmull Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Well done great job, not sure i like it any more now though :) You have a great talent to do this. Quote
skylinedan Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 That is very cool, had to be a fun build considering you had only pictures to go by. I,m with DLuders, be interesting to have a side by side pic of it and the 8421 Dan Quote
dr_spock Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Great job. Do you have a 8053 to compare along with the 8421 for a side by side? Quote
mo_ Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Well done sir!!! Do you have an estimate as to how many parts you used? It would be a good benchmark to see how close your build technique is when Lego releases an official part count. I am only saying this as you may have been more efficient with your build (same result less parts) with your fantastic skills. Again good job! Quote
Theo van Vroenhoven Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Nice work! And good to see that it can be built without any new parts. BTW: Are the black panels on the end not available in yellow or didn't you have any left over? I am really curious about the parts inventory to compare it with 8421. Can you make one if you break down the model? (if ever...) Quote
Jim Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Very well done!! Now for the most important question; what do you think of it? Do you like it? Quote
Feri84 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) Great and fast job! Very impressive! Congratulation! What is your opinion about this set? Edited February 12, 2013 by Feri84 Quote
Matt The Tuba Guy Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 BTW: Are the black panels on the end not available in yellow or didn't you have any left over? There are the same panels on the doors, so I would assume he ran out. Great job dokludi! Is that really how far the boom extends though? because the extension is a bit pathetic. Quote
mobi Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Superb!! What are EVO1 & EVO2 by the way? Are they A & B model? Quote
Jim Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Superb!! What are EVO1 & EVO2 by the way? Are they A & B model? EVO1 is the first version (evolution one). EVO2 will be the second version after seeing more pics from the New York toy fair. Quote
mobi Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I see. It will be great if dokludi can create a B model using same parts. Quote
Balrog Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Well done dokludi. Just a quick question. In the video from the Nuremberg Toyfair, you can see that the superstructure is sitting kind of wobbly on the turntable. Did you experience the same with your replica or did you fix that directly when building it? Quote
Chris_A Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) Well done dokludi. Just a quick question. In the video from the Nuremberg Toyfair, you can see that the superstructure is sitting kind of wobbly on the turntable. Did you experience the same with your replica or did you fix that directly when building it? This is what i want to ask too. Well done! Chris Edited February 12, 2013 by Chris_A Quote
deAraujo Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Congratulations dokludi for your work. Can you take a picture from underneath as well? Thanks Quote
