Corydoras Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) 2. I believe that the Overlord model is not from the same set as the "Red Dragon Temple" model. The photo of the Overlord model (box art?) shows it standing beside what appears to be a gray structure on top of a grey base plate. That would not jive with the color scheme of the Temple set. 3. Since I think it is fairy safe to assume that the "Ninja X-1 Charger" set is a vehicle set, could the Overlord set in fact be another set that we don't yet know about? Perhaps this is in fact the "Battle for Ninjago City" set and the temple is something altogether different (another retailer exclusive perhaps?) I found the news of there only being 2 sets in the summer wave to be unusual as there usually seems to be at least 4 and also a smaller ($15-$25) set is missing from the listing altogether. Also, the website that first put out the announcement about the set lists has now taken the Ninjago ones down altogether while leaving all the others up. The tripod walker carrying the villain (Overlord?) is part of the dragon temple set, which is called "Battle for Ninjago City". The temple sits atop a rocky structure that has some burps built into it. There's also a nice torii gate (separate structure if I remember correctly) and LBG stairs leading to the main entrance to the temple. I also saw a small tree with red leaves and a mysterious new part the walls are decorated with - pearl gold dishes very reminiscent of space radar pieces, but sporting some kind of a new intricate pattern,,, Oh, and last piece of information I know is gonna make a lot people happy - the set comes with Samurai X! I think she has her old gear from the Snake wave, but what I saw was just prelims so everything can change... The other set I saw is what looks like a red sports car that apparently can transform into... something. Edited January 15, 2014 by Corydoras Quote

Any more info on the minifigures included in the sets, Corydoras? Specifically on whether there are Nindroids included? Edited January 15, 2014 by Penkid11 Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Samurai X! Still getting the Samurai Mech though, can't wait. Quote
Corydoras Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Any more info on the minifigures included in the sets, Corydoras? Specifically on whether there are Nindroids included? Of course there are Nindroids - at least two of them in Battle for Ninjago City. The red car thingy is also being chased by them. Quote

Wonderful! TLG didn't pull a Chima on us What red car? He's referring to the excellent sounding Ninja X-1 Charger (which now that I think about it, sounds a lot like a name for a really expensive car). Edited January 15, 2014 by Penkid11 Quote

I imagine Samurai X will have the same design she has on her characters page, regardless of what the prelims look like. That new design, with printed torso armor and the ZX Ninja shoulderpads, is very definitely the sort of thing that is likely to have been designed for a set. Sounds like the sets should be pretty cool. Looking forward to better pics and information from Toy Fair! Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 So just to clarify, we've only seen one set right? The 2 catalog images were of "Battle for Ninjago City" right? Quote

Freddy Bricker Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Based on 'Corydoras' descriptions, that's what it seems like! Ah so the mystery has begun! I'll be sure to check in and see when images are posted, though it's kind of weird that all the images we've seen have been only clips of the catalog, but seeing anything early is a privilege I guess. TheLazyChicken Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Oh no, my wallet is trying buy a potion to make me go to sleep for the rest of 2014... These sets are starting to grow on me even more! Quote
PenPlays Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 About the Ninja X-1 Charger... Skip to 13:43. What you see is Samurai X's lair, but the really interesting bit is what is on the back pedestal. Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I noticed that as well, it seems to fit the 'red sports car' description. Quote

It looks to be bipedal, but I could easily see it being some kind of crawler. Quote

If so, they could still make money off the set. Quote
Mandate Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I was wondering about that car. I haven't been on lately, and I haven't had a chance to watch the video in decent quality yet. I don't think that's a wheeled vehicle, it looks more like a hover car judging by how big it is and the lack of visible wheels. Edited January 17, 2014 by JayWalker Quote
DraikNova Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Considering the advances in Ninjago's tech, maybe the car can transform into that hover car? Quote
Lyichir Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) I'm still hoping that the set other than the one we've seen Samurai X in contains Nya in her new costume from the show. EDIT: Also, could the car you all are discussing be the one from the MechDragon set described as "Nya's car"? I know it's currently the wrong color, but the Ninja could use the Techno-blades on it or something in a later episode. Edited January 17, 2014 by Lyichir Quote

Nope, it's already been featured in the show, and is quite definitely different. It's very unlikely that they'd reuse a vehicle, anyway. Quote
