I saw it as well, and I agree. It definitely wasn't quite as good as the first one but it was still amazing, I felt. The Blue Umbrella was great and cute as well.

What was the first pixar film?

Have to say though i there any Bugs life MOCS?

The first Pixar film was Toy Story, in 1995. I saw a Bug's Life LDD thing, but that's about it for MOCs.

Some news about upcoming Disney and Pixar films from D23: LINK

I'm really excited for Toy Story of Terror and Inside Out! The Good Dinosaur sounds fun as well. Still "meh" about Finding Dory, but I'll keep an open mind. Also, it seems odd that they're already planning a sequel to Planes, although the first reviews for the first one seem to be mostly positive. Has anyone seen it?

Toy Story of Terror sounds good, but Inside Out is one of my most anticipated films, and it has been for a while. The Good Dinosaur doesn't sound interesting to me, but of course I will still see it. I never was a fan of dinosaurs and prehistoric stuff. Finding Dory still ticks me off, as goes for Planes 2 (they announced this one a while ago and it comes out less than a year after the first). And Oky, most of the reviews are negative. Only positive review I watched was from Schmoes Know, but it's at a 24%.

Disney Toons is still on it with that Peter Pan-like stuff- not surprised. I'm not too excited for Frozen (saw the D23 footage and it still didn't impress, and I really didn't like Tangled). Zootopia sounds really cute. I am excited to see how they'll pull off Big Hero 6. I wonder if we'll get LEGO sets for that one, but 2014 already seems to have too many licensed stuff.

Oh, I guess I was looking in the wrong places. But I don't believe it is that bad. Most of the reviews complain about how it is inferior to the Cars films, which was a given since it is made by Disneytoons. Comparing anything to a Pixar film is going to make it look bad. I'm sure if you look at it as a stand alone film, it will be alright, especially if you compare it to other films like Turbo or Epic.

I'm looking forward to Frozen, mainly because I did like Tangled a lot. Can't say I'm excited for Big Hero 6 (the comic it's based on doesn't sound too interesting to me), but I'm certainly curious. And yes, Zootopia sounds good too.

I'm actually looking forward to Frozen a lot -- the release date is fast approaching! And like just2good, I can't wait for Inside Out. It sounds like a real winner for Pixar. There's some good stuff coming down the pipeline from Pixar in the next few years.

Time for some impressions from someone who was actually at the panel.

The Good Dinosaur: Eh...it's clear the people working on it have put a lot of love into it, but it's not looking that great, unfortunately. :sceptic: Zootopia looks like it's going to hit a lot of the same notes (as far as the world itself goes) in a more interesting way, and I'm finding the main characters more annoying than endearing, surprisingly.

Monsters Inc. Party Central: Pure Awesome. This is more along the lines of what we wanted out of Monsters University--it's a shame we had to wait for the short films phase to get it. This will likely be the only reason I'll buy The Good Dinosaur on Blu-ray, just so I have this short.

Finding Dory: There was not much info for this one, unfortunately. I'm pleased with the casting for Dory's parents, though--a perfect fit. After all, who else could successfully play Ellen DeGeneres' parents?

Planes Fire and Rescue: Eh. I was disappointed by the announcement--considering it was made on the same day that the movie opened, they should have been more careful discussing the plot. I'm pretty sure the ending for Planes was just casually spoiled for anyone sitting in on the panel--and unless you were at a midnight screening of Planes and then went straight to the line for the panel, there is no way anyone in that arena could have seen the first film before having it spoiled for them. :sceptic: As for the movie itself, most of the characters seem likeable enough (we got a short clip from the film, with a cool mix of finished animation and various in-progress shots--I honestly found the switches between complete and incomplete more interesting than the scene itself), but it didn't really grab me. But while we're on the subject of grabbing me...

Frozen: Oh. My. God. YES. I knew next to nothing about Frozen prior to the panel, and it is now number one on my "Must See" list for this year. I actually have a sneaking suspicion that Frozen is actually going to be an implied sequel to Tangled--Anna and Elsa share a number of physical similarities to Flynn and Rapunzel that go beyond the general similarity of art style, including (most importantly) the golden hair--Elsa, the sister with magical powers, has golden hair, while her sister Anna has hair much closer to Flynn's and (more potentially spoilery stuff ahead)

Rapunzel's natural shade (that is, after she cut her hair). Also, in the high-res pics we saw of Anna, she seems to have a single lock of blonde hair, possibly indicating a minor or dormant affinity for magic of her own, further implying that she and Elsa are Flynn and Rapunzel's descendants.

Additionally, one of the clips we saw featured a horse with striking similarities to Maximus, both in appearance and in behavior. I'm almost certain that if Frozen isn't a sequel to Tangled, then at least the two take place within the same universe.

Oh, did I mention getting to hear Idina Menzel live was awesome? Because it was. "Let It Go" is an amazing song, and I'm hungry for more. :sweet:

Get A Horse: Must be seen to be believed. The amount of work that went into this project is truly awe-inspiring. The animators who worked on restoring the piece spoke of having to "unlearn what they had learned about animation over the years" in order to match the style of the animation they already had--it was fascinating to hear them talk about how much animation has changed since those early days. Definitely worth a look--especially since it's running before Frozen.

The Tinkerbell movies: Gah, why am I consistently underestimating these? Having seen the first two, and now some previews for the latest two (yes, I know, I'm missing some--didn't you hear me say I keep underestimating them?), I am forcibly impressed. They're underappreciated, and are really quite good. Also, we managed to convince Tom Hiddleston to sing "The Bare Necessities", so I'm pleased about that as well.

Big Hero 6: I'm suspending judgment until later, when we have more info. I do have to say that I love the concept of "San Fransokyo", though--this needs to become a real thing. Make it happen, San Francisco/Tokyo!

Zootopia: Now this one seems interesting. I was a big fan of the Disney animated Robin Hood when I was little, and there's something about this project that seems to evoke a similar feeling. I can see it crashing and burning if it goes off-course, but if it keeps to the concepts that were presented at the Expo, it'll be fantastic.

Inside Out: Other than being upset that the title was changed (seriously, the old title was MUCH better), I'm really excited about this one. We got a fully-voiced storyboard sequence from the movie, and it is perfect. #2 on my "Most Excited about" list, after Frozen.

Also, I think John Lasseter was stalking me. Seriously, after the Broadway panel on Friday night, he walked right past me on his way out, and then at the Alan Menken and Richard Sherman musical presentation he walked past me on his way to his seat--both times just feet away. Fun times, fun times. :sweet:

Thanks for your impressions, Flipz! Also, that's an interesting theory. There is not really enough evidence for me to believe it, but you might be on to something.

Speaking of shared universe theories, have you read this? It's a theory about how all Pixar films take place in the same universe. It's kind of ridiculous, but at the same time would explain a lot of things.

Also, I think John Lasseter was stalking me.

That's one person I wouldn't mind stalking me. In fact, I'd consider it an honor.

(Puts on flame retardant cloths)

I honestly don't care, because I don't like Finding Nemo.

Now, to be granted, I understand why people like Finding Nemo, I just don't like the movie, and I don't know why. I just don't like it for some strange reason. I don't think Dory's all that funny, I don't care for a majority of the characters, I just can't get into the story. It's the same way with Wall-E. I understand why people like Wall-E, I just felt it's message was very forced, and it takes too long to get into the movie. By the time we get to the space colony, the movies halfway done.

Anyone else have a Pixar film they just can't get behind?

Bug's Life. Loved it when I was younger. Finding Nemo is getting old, too. Maybe because I've seen it a billion times.

I can respect that. I didn't think Dory was all that funny either (one of the reasons why I'm skeptical about a movie centered around her), unlike all the other side characters which were hilarious in my opinion. And people seem to have very polarized views of Wall-E (I personally love it).

Anyone else have a Pixar film they just can't get behind?

Brave. As I said before, it's not a bad movie, but it's just too unoriginal and not action-packed or funny enough for me to get behind. :sceptic:

Interesting theory to speculate on but it doesn't hold much water. Pixar always likes to hide easter eggs in their films, not to make the universes mix, but just to entertain the astute movie goers. It's really just a case of having the same folks making all these films, its inevitable that they will cross paths at times.

Well, saw Toy Story of Terror. It was cute! That's really all. Didn't like Pricklepants in it, he kind of spoiled some of the fun and came down as annoying. Of course, it was really fast paced, maybe a little too rushed in the story, but I understand why. Not gonna rate it.

Well, also, The Good Dinosaur poster came out.

Yeah...... yeah. Not liking the look of this poster. It looks kind of bland. I still feel the same way I did when I first heard about this film. I'm not a dinosaur guy. I'm the most excited for Inside Out, like I always was. And, the November release date is odd.

Take it from someone who saw a lot more at D23: it is bland. :sceptic:

Woohoo! Cars 3 was announced today! I'm so glad that we're getting a sequel. The story of the second one has so many possibilities to be expanded upon. The second one was even better than the first, so it can only get better! :sweet:

Oh, and Incredibles 2 was announced. Like, what the heck. The only Pixar film that doesn't need a sequel. :hmpf_bad:

:sarcasm_smug::grin:

I would LOVE Incredibles sets, and wouldn't mind some more Cars sets as I missed out on most of 2011.

You had me going there for a minute. I still haven't seen Cars 2 (or Monsters University :look:) but I'll look forward to The Incredibles 2 for sure. :classic: I do kind of agree with the people who say they would rather see more original stories than sequels and prequels, but I can make an exception for The Incredibles....

Monsters University was incredible, I loved it through and through. However I haven't even seen Cars 2 yet, so what do I know?

I'm not actually boycotting sequels/prequels. Mostly I just forget about them and haven't gotten around to seeing either yet. I'm glad to know that you liked MU though. That's the one I'm more interested in of the two. :classic:

It took Pixar long enough to announce a sequel for The Incredibles. They left that film's ending very much open, and I'm hoping the sequel can expand upon that and not be a disappointment. As for Cars 3, I can't say that I'm surprised or impressed. I don't see how yet another Cars film is necessary but I will see it anyway when it eventually comes out. As for The Good Dinosaur, that poster doesn't look very promising, but I'll wait for a trailer (however long that takes) before I properly judge whether I will see the film or not.

This is indeed incredible news! I'm very glad Brad Bird is involved again and can't wait to see it!

Monsters University was just ok. I felt that despite the odd twist at the end, the whole movie was too formulaic for a Pixar film. I think I prefer Cars 2 because it had a lot more interesting plots and characters and a clearer message in my opinion.

That said, I'm not too thrilled about Cars 3, but if they can learn from their mistakes from the first two and come up with a good story, I won't mind seeing it.

This news is absolutely ...well... incredible! The one movie I was dying to get a sequel of!

Cars 3, however... Do we really need to milk that drained cash-cow again? The two car movies were not my cup of tea. However, if they do it right, I won't mind at all.

The only thing I didn't like about that movie is the abominable snowman cameo. Didn't make sense that they worked with him but then when they were banished they didn't know him? That was stupid.

So excited for Incredibles 2! I've been waiting for 10 years! Always loved that movie and felt it deserved a sequel more than others *cough* cars 2 *cough*. Cars however, needs to STOP. The second one sucked and planes was just a bad idea. They're milking it and it's annoying.
