MarkusOSX Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Hi all, i´ve got a short question. Didn´t find anything helpful about it. Is the new PF L-motor "more powerful" than the old one ? I mean this one here: Greetz Markus Quote
Balrog Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Is there an old PF Motor L at all? I believe not. Quote
Sariel Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) There is no "old" L motor. Here, Marcus: http://www.philohome...s/motorcomp.htm One of the websites each Technic builder should know. Edited October 29, 2012 by Sariel Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) Is there an old PF Motor L at all? I believe not. Sry, I mean the XL motor: thx @ sariel for the link. Didn´t know this page. This answers my question GreetzMarkus Edited October 29, 2012 by MarkusOSX Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 No, its not more powerfull, Right Quote
rm8 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) i think they are about equal: XL motor with about 220 rpm and 40 torque, and L with 400 rpm and 18 torqueSo gearing down L motor 2:1 gives 2 times more torque. Edited October 31, 2012 by rm8 Quote
Tadej Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 They are close, but XL is still more powerful with 2.21W of mechanical power at 9V, where as the L motor has 1.85W of mechanical power at 9V. Quote
allanp Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 If you really want some power go for the buggy motor, way more powerful than the XL motor. Quote
dandexter Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Semi on topic, how many L motors can you run off one battery box with the new V2 IR? Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 If you really want some power go for the buggy motor, way more powerful than the XL motor. Do you have some for me ? thx for all answers Quote
Tadej Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Semi on topic, how many L motors can you run off one battery box with the new V2 IR? you can run two L motors, any more would result in receiver cutting off when you would stress the motors Quote
Burf2000 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 So if you geared down the RC motor is it stronger than a XL / NXT at the same RPM? Quote
allanp Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) Yup! According to Philos updated measurements the buggy motor produces about twice as much mechanical power as the XL motor. http://philohome.com...s/motorcomp.htm Edited October 30, 2012 by allanp Quote
rm8 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Yesterday I tested 2x L motors as alternative to 1 XL motor at my middle-scale awd mocs like this http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72502&hl=9395 or this http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73762&hl=8081. I built light awd chassis and mount 2L motors. The weight was simulated by two battery boxes (of course with accus) Weight of chassis and moc car about 900-950 g. So I can compare them. 2L shows the same torque, but better acceleration, 1,5 times faster speed, compact and better mounting possibilities. Our next awd car will be with 2x L motors;) Quote
