Echo Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 (edited) Personaly, I think it is a step in the right direction, but not as good as classic. *EDIT* For some reason the poll didn't work right. Please close. *EDIT* Thanks Hobbes. Edited January 8, 2007 by Echo Quote
Hobbes Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I edited your poll, now it should look the way you wanted it. You put your first choice into "Poll Content", that's why the choices were mixed up. I reset the poll counters, too, so everybody has to vote again :-) As for the poll, I, too, think it's a step in the right direction, but still far from Classic Castle. Quote
mrts Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 As for the poll, I, too, think it's a step in the right direction, but still far from Classic Castle. same here Quote
DoubleT Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Indeed, i voted the same, but i still think these new sets are cool.... just not Classic... yet.... Quote
Kahgarak Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Right direction, but Classic is still better. Quote
Athos Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 It is a step in the right direction, but no where near as nice as the classic sets. These, however, are compatable and can be integrated into classic-castle, unlike the KK2 nonsense, which was so utterly different in color and style. All in all, I'd put these sets about on par with Fright Knights, which in my mind was not a terrible theme, but not my favorite either. Steve Quote
pietje Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 same here, I didn't like the new colours for gold and silver(mat colours or how do you say it in English) I like pure gold and silver colors or black, grey, etc And I didn't like the skeletions, rather I would see dragon knights or bat knights I like to see houses,a bridge and citizens: smit, horse farmer, farmer, logger, and a wizard like the blue wizert from the dragon knights Quote
snefroe Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 based on the pics we've seen, I'd say it still looks rather primitive, not as sophisticated as the older subthemes, but it's most definitely a step in the right direction... Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Pretty much agree with the rest of you on that fact Quote
ghoulrealm Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I'm voting better than classic, due to the ghoulish army, horses, and metalic colored elements. I like the actual castle designs about the same as classic. Quote
Asuka Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I can not vote because I think the new castle line seems to be as good now as CC was then. The amount of fantasy and creativity that Quote
Grrr Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 It is starting to approach the quality of fright nights sets - but still not near the quality of even teh dragon knights sets we had a few years back. The main thing for me however is that while the set design may not be the greatest - at least the parts/figs are going to be integratable into what I build these days - no jellies for instance (I mean, I don't build 12 faction mocs anyway, so always plunder the other factions parts). Quote
hewkii9 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I voted as good as KK, but that's just because I wasn't into Lego Lego [i liked BIONICLE]. So all I know of CC is a bunch of pictures and the knowledge that no soldier had a moustache. Just that durn smile. Besides, KK2 was pretty good this year, and last. We got rid of the jellybeans, and had a few preety good sets, like 8813. But don't get me wrong, I like this new line. Quote
Scouty Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Well, I for some reason voted and voted"It's in the right direction." It's better than KK series, but from what I see, it's no better than C-C, which I never had any. I'm guessing Mister-Phes voted the same as KK :-P . Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Its a step in the right direction, but it doesn't come close to clasic castle. The minifigs are great (though I'm not keen on the skeletons for which I have absolutely no use), and the castle is definitely better than last year's offering. Still, I miss the smaller, largely brick-built castles of yesteryear. This castle still feels very <insert that tiresome argument> to me, which is a shame. It looks ok, but not great. I mean, what happened to having a real gatehouse? The villian's fort just looks like something leftover from Alpha Team. Its ok, but I know that LEGO can do better. The new Knights are great though. Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 A step in the right direction because, well, its a CASTLE. Not like the big 100 buck calstes we've have the past few years that are just HORRIBLE - Undefendable walls, no back, etc. But its not as good as classic because it lacks the BULK it should have. The walls are simple in construction, and thats all there is. No barracks yard inside or anything - Just walls and towers. So aye. Quote
TroyTMoore Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Not a step in the right direction, rather a GIANT leap when compared to KK2. Sure the 2006 KK2 was better than the years of the line previously, but I didn't buy a single set. Rubbish is still rubbish. I did get several VDFs as that was a good model, but all of them were on sale. I will have no problem paying full price for these sets if they look similar to the prototypes we have seen so far. Return of the classic sword and of the pointed visor, coupled with a realistic looking castle not on a raised baseplate is certainly close to classic Castle. Not quite sold on the skellies, but I am sure the youngsters will enjoy them. I've been passing up loads of clearance LEGO in order to save for these sets when they come out. 2007 is looking to be a very good year. Quote
christopher110 Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I voted the wrong one. I think i should vote for 'as good as KK'..... I really like the big castle of KK year 2004 and 2005....... Quote
Berry Syedow Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 A castle theme without jellybean knights is an improvement, no matter what people say. :-P I am very happy to see the return of a Quote
Sir Kohran Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Blasphemy, I know, but I think this line is actually better than the 'Classics'. 8- Quote
oo7 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I agree with Asuka, so where's the "Yes, it is just as good as classic" option? Quote
Scouty Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 The, um, "Yes, it is better than classic." option :-P . It's the middle option. Quote
oo7 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 The, um, "Yes, it is better than classic." option :-P . It's the middle option. As I assume you're directing this towards me, I do not like it "better than classic" but "just as good as classic", so their greatness is tied, equal, balanced, the same, etc. Quote
