Hi.

I have 4 LAs from the 8043-1 set.

Iv'e built serval MOCs using them and today while building an MOC I noticed that one of them doesn't makes those clicks when its fully extended - it just jams the motor.

Then I tried the same MOC with another LA and it did make those clicks, and the motor kept running.

is this possible that one of my LAs doesn't have a clutch built in to it or maybe im imagining?

very strange.

They should have them. Try manually?

Tested manually all the LAs,one of them seems to only engage after MUCH more power is applied.

strange, those LAs never had any high load requirement in my MOCs. only very easy jobs

The "clutch" in a linear actuator is not a separate part. The actuator itself is internally designed in such a way that it can only react so much torque before it slips. There is no way for this to be left out of a particular unit. However, there are build tolerances to consider, so it may simply be that this one fits tighter than others and therefore has a higher slip torque.

You can see the internal design here.

Thanks for the info.

So the conclusion is that this LA's "clutch" only engages after some more power is applied.

Wan't there a problem with the first LAs that came with the 8043 excavator? I think I remember there was a problem with LAs locking up... May it be that one of them is from this early batch?

Umm nope, this is the newer type of 8043. it has the newer LAs (also the newer 16 tooth gears)
