I won't lie, the start of that trailer scared me a little . I really can not wait for this movie, I really want to give Supes another chance.

Well Warner Bros. did hire Nolan in 2010 to write the script for the movie but I'd still give most of the credit for that trailer to Zack Snyder, Michael Shannon, Henry Cavill, the editing crew, etc. A good story's nothing without the actors and behind-the-scenes people.

I'm actually hoping Snyder's influence on the script and stuff is minimal. His movies are almost Micheal Bayish in execution. A lot of sights and sounds signifying nothing for the most part. He's too big on theatrics and his stories often suffer.

The Nolans give me hope. The combination might work. Nolan IMO isn't as good at theatrics (Batman Returns IMO had horrible fight scenes for example with the camera changing every half second) but significantly better at story. They might balance each other out.

The Trailers are of course awesome but many terrible things have had great trailers so I don't pay them much heed.

A great example is Green Lantern. The trailers (especially the third trailer) were really good am got me excited for the film. However it was such a let down. Hopefully this will be the start of a great shared universe which focuses on Quality instead of quantity.

Really? I found the trailers for Green Lantern very off-putting.

I guess I'm one of the few who enjoyed GL. Sure it was no Iron Man or Avengers, but I don't think it was worth all the slag thrown at it.

Was Green Lantern in the same universe as Man of Steel? And is the Dark Knight series or Watchmen? I'm not big on DC at all, but I way give it a go.

They're all separate, but if MOS succeeds we will probably get a shared universe. I definitely recommend watching The Dark Knight Trilogy and Watchmen, I consider them to be much better than the Marvel Movies (aside from the first Iron Man).

And that is the source of my fears. The trailers look totally awesome. Nothing to find fault with besides the normal Zachary Snyder color washed dirty blue tone, which I hate.

But Zach Snyder always gives great trailers. It's the execution of his movies that are mixed at best. I mean go back and look at how amazing the trailers for SuckerPunch were. Then try and watch the actual movie without feeling dirty or wanting to kill yourself. He is the best in the business at making teaser trailers. His movies however can go either way. Good stuff like 300 and Watchmen, and really really bad like Suckerpunch.

I read somewhere that if MOS succeeds and they go ahead with the JLA film, MOS and GL will be part of a shared universe. As of right now though? Best to treat them as separate.

I don't know about GL. Ryan Reynolds has not expressed much desire to reprise the role, and because of the total flop of the film, they may just treat it like the 2003 Hulk.

Still, time will tell. Also, how would the timelines work? Didn't they say in GL that that whats-his-name was the very first alien ever encountered? How would that mesh with Superman's being there for several years already?

In other news, I saw the newest trailer for MoS in the theater today, and it's a whole lot better looking there than here online. So now I'm even more excited, and can't wait to go see it.

Wonder Woman needs her own movie. Also I know comics would hate it but her story kind of sucks and needs to be changed and modernized into something decent. You can keep a lot of the elements but... honestly for a lot of these less popular heroes there's a REASON they're less popular. Their characters might be more boring, their stories non-compelling, their villains unmemorable. Whatever. Wonder Woman is one of those characters with a lot of problems.

The Green Lantern is too. The Flash too. Blablabla... We're getting a LOT of "secondary" character movies soon from both Marvel and DC. I'm a bit worried they won't do that well because again, honestly they're just not as compelling. They're good but not as wide spread loved. Superman is loved because he's got a draw. Batman too. It'll take great writers to make some of those secondaries great. Like what they did for Iron Man who successfully broke out of secondary status. And no, I wouldn't compare the old Iron Man to the new one. The new one is more Iron Man than the old one ever was ;p.

I can't help but think that DC and WB, if they want to start moving towards that same sort of shared universe that Marvel is doing, really needs to start smaller. Something a little more obscure, that lets them go a little darker or play off personalities rather than character archetypes. Marvel succeeded in part because they were able to begin the whole thing with Iron Man. A character who was well known to comics fans, and visually recognize able to the general audience, but they really didn't have any preconceptions of him. I do think the Marvel universe roll out would have worked as well starting with Spider-Man or Wolverine.

And with Man of Steel, DC is making a huge tactical error. They are seeking to open their world franchise with their top A list all powerful demigod character. That doesn't leave much room to grow the world or ramp things up. I mean once Superman is on the table, what is even the point of some of he others? Where can you go with their stories?

I almost think they would have been better off starting with something a little more out there. Say Doom Patrol. And give the whole thing to an unexpected director. Something like challenge Taratino to make a movie with no cursing. Although this does sort of highlight part of the problem DC faces. When you get outside the world of existing fans, and start talking to normal people, Marvel only has a small number of A list pop culture icons. Spider-Man, maybe Wolverine and the Hulk. But they have a metric crap ton of B list types. Well known popular characters that the public can identify, but isn't really that familiar with their stories. DC has more A listers. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman. But other than Flash and the extended Batman cast they have virtually no B listers. After the A's it drops immediately to C, D and lower. Almost no non fan recognition. It's problematic. It's also why they dusted off General Zod for this movie rather than using more classic Superman villains. Because the only Supes villains the paying public knows are Lex Luthor and Zod. Braniac? Who's that? Darkseid? Who?

Starting with Superman is a great choice for as the trailer says, he will give the world an ideal to strive towards. This can mean he inspires people to become heroes, some extraordinary ones.

Watchmen has always been in a seperate universe, even in the comics. Also DC have already stated that the Dark Knight Trilogy won't be involved in a shared universe, mainly because its based around realism and that Bruce Wayne's story finished. As for Green Lantern its unsure, it may be part of a shared universe but it looks unlikely. Ryan Renolds doesn't really want to be Green Lantern again, so they will most likely reboot him.

Arrow could be in the Shared universe, they are considering it. It will also likely be the place where they introduce some characters. There's already talk of Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Nightwing having possible cameos/ roles in the next season.

Is Arrow related to Smallville or Birds of Prey?

Talk about an Easter Egg in the film, don't want to spoil the fun. It's not a spoiler to the plot, though.

In the movie, there's a Batman reference- the satellite Zod takes over says Wayne Industries on it. What does this mean?
