WesternOutlaw Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Just spotted this classic yellow-style castle on Brickshelf. I really like the round design. It also has a nice touch of the red and white flags that blend in nicely with the classic crusader fig. Whole Gallery: Hilltop Tower Quote
Norro Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 That is really taking the yellow castle up a notch. And the non-classic faces are a brilliant addition. Nice find! God Bless, Nathan Quote
snefroe Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 i thought about posting this yesterday, because, it just gives me such a positive vibe; sure, yellow walls are not really prefered by castle builders, but this one really reminds me of the good old days. Quote
Starwars4J Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 This is areally a brilliant little MOC here. I love the sloping path, I love the construction of the tower, and the yellow actually doesn't look out of place! Great find Quote

DARKspawn Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Hi, Everyone :) Thanks heaps for the kind words regarding my Tower! Although I prefer to work with grey I did this in yellow to honour the original castle theme. Thanks again :D Quote

Although I prefer to work with grey I did this in yellow to honour the original castle theme. Welcome to Eurobricks DS. The yellow castle was my 1st Lego castle, so I like the classic yellow. You design a great MOC. Nice to see you join EB. Quote

El Bucanero Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Did you ever see this? Wow!! That looks great( If I imagine it's gray it looks even better) Is Mr Darkspawn also the creator of this castle? Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 That's awesome! I would never want to destroy if I had designed this. Quote
snefroe Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 That's awesome! I would never want to destroy if I had designed this. weeeeeell... it looks kinda weird to me... it seems to me that the builder just wanted to add as many differently shaped towers as possible... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 13, 2006 Governor Posted December 13, 2006 How does one build walls at 45 degree angles? Quote
oo7 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Wow!! That looks great( If I imagine it's gray it looks even better)Is Mr Darkspawn also the creator of this castle? This fellow named 'Infyrana' made it. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=121455 How does one build walls at 45 degree angles? 45 degrees vertical or 45 degrees horizontal? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 13, 2006 Governor Posted December 13, 2006 Horizontally like the Hilltop Tower. I notice its got 8 sides... I'm wondering how that's achieved... Quote
Norro Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Horizontally like the Hilltop Tower. I notice its got 8 sides... I'm wondering how that's achieved... This technique uses the standard brick hinge pieces to form an octagon... God Bless, Nathan Quote
oo7 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 One can use hinge bricks like these to make the octagonal shape and then it can be attached on a combination of SNOT tile and studed plate or brick. 7019 Viking Fortress uses this hinge technique (hinges are in black) for each large wall which all connect with these red peices. Thus, it has a very nice looking and original octagonal layout. Way to go TLC! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 14, 2006 Author Posted December 14, 2006 Great use for the hinge bricks. Quote
hewkii9 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Very nice MoC. I really like the figs. Happy little visors :) On another note, the octagonal design was also used in Sentai Fortress. Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Ohh nooo the castle is being attacked by a giant kid!!! Abandon castle!(or is this only said on ships?) BTW, I think this castle deserves his own thread... Quote
DARKspawn Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 lol great pic, Mr Tiber! That is why I have a toddler gate on the doorway of my LEGO room :-D Thanks for the warm welcome guys :-) The shape of my tower was indeed done with the very same brick hinge, the shape was braced with the old 45 degree wing plates PS I LOVE your smilies on this board ;-) Quote
