Zerobricks Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Here's my new MOC. I wanted to re-use the big green wheels but in less trial-truckish kind of a way. The tractor has: Pendular front axle Working front and rear PTO working pump working 4x4 drive working steering wheels gearbox to control the functions fake I4 engine It also comes with a digging arm attachment which has: working rotation and workings of the arm outriggers powered by rear PTO The arm can fold nicely: The front PTO is excentric dueo to the position of the engine. Underside showing the mess of gears and the pump (at least some 50 gears were used) Tiltable front axle: Each wheels also has a 1:3 reduction gear ratio inside the hub: And the video: Quote
GuiliuG Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 (edited) Nice tractor, you put lot of functions in it! I advise you to remplace the two old pumps by new one to have a quicker arm movement. Also, I absolutly don't like these wheels :p unimog wheels would fit better IMO. And a last thing, what's the interest to have a tractor motorized if you need to turn manually the steering? It's surely a fun MOC to play with. Ps :I like how the arm turns. Edited June 12, 2012 by GuiliuG Quote
timslegos Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Well it is certainly an original MOC... I cant say I like the white, orange, and green combination of colors . tim Quote
allanp Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 And a last thing, what's the interest to have a tractor motorized if you need to turn manually the steering? Personally I quite like the hands on playability of manual steering whilst it is moving under it's own power. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Nice tractor. I am not a fan of the green paint job athough it does test your skill when building models in green as the number of tecknic parts in this color is limited. Quote
Kronos Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Love the model, love the design, love the colors!! Great MOC! I hope instructions are to follow... -Mike Quote
DLuders Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 (edited) I like the use of the big green Lego wheels and tires. Since I live very close to a huge dryland wheat growing region, I see large farm tractors with huge tires like these. For example, here's a John Deere tractor with yellow-green wheels: The large tires help displace the weight of the tractor over a larger area, so that there is less soil pressure and ruts. The Unimog tires are too small and TOO SMOOTH to act as farm tractor tires. TRACTION is key on loose farm soil. Edited June 13, 2012 by DLuders Quote
Zerobricks Posted June 13, 2012 Author Posted June 13, 2012 Thanks for replys guys. the reason I did not use the new unimog pumps, because they are too expensive and i use what i have. I dont quite understand the deal with colors, as real tractors also have the green/white combo. Quote
timslegos Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I dont quite understand the deal with colors, as real tractors also have the green/white combo. I think its because the wheels are a lime green rather than a dark green. tim Quote
