As is the case with Star Wars, there may be clauses in the contract between TLG and Warner/Tolkien that prevent TLG from producing battle packs containing figures only (so as not to damage those companies that are producing action figures)

I was under the assumption that this was automatically out of the question for all licensed themes.

Personally, I think single-faction battle packs are better for variety reasons. It's also useful if you only want a small group of one faction and an army of another.

I know this means we'll probably see less factions at a time, but I can't understand why they can't release more than two battle packs per year (at least, Star Wars does this). :sceptic:

Also, I think the brick-built components are fine. Look at the Uruk-hai Army set, if you get multiples you can create a longer wall. That's pretty good, actually, compared to small catapults and flick-fire missiles.

I don't mean to offend you Fives. I am so confused why anyone would ask for stuff like this?

Because not everyone is building armies and wants 10 to 100 sets (or could afford them if they did!). I'd much rather more multi-faction stuff with extras like the Urak-Hai Army set. For me they're more appealing and more interesting. My kid will second that. When I got him a single faction Star Wars battle pack he complained that there were no bad guys! It shouldn't be confusing... different people enjoy and play with Lego in different ways and want different things. While I'm sure loads of people would love a pack of five identical soldiers, that would hold zero interest for me.

For those who are army building, it's a shame the action figure thing mentioned above limits that and makes it harder. If we end up with multiple faction sets I guess you need to find faction-buddies to swap with (I'm sure that already happens!).

I love the Orc hair, as it gives the Orcs foreheads. It's very interesting. Has someone put up an idea for a Lego Isenguard on CUUSOO?

I'm not really liking the Eomer figure. It's not very accurate.

I think that Theoden also has an orange beard... I still like him i can use it for a generic Rohan soldier and make a custom Eomer with hair. Also for Isengard if they do make a set it should/would be the flood with treebeard Merry and Pippin, Saruman, Worm tongue and an ent most likely

Hm...that would be interesting. I would want another set without an ent, but Saruman only ventures out to the orc forge and his tower. (In the movie, not the book.)

I think a LEGO Treebeard would be great, would be interesting to see how TLG made such an item (and whether it would be articulated in some form so it can move)

An orange beard?

Theoden has a dark tan beard. Eomer's beard isn't quite orange, but more of a dirty blonde color, like Sam's. I think that if we saw that Eomer head with Lucius Malfoy's hair, it would look good.

I think the beard looks fine. What annoys me is that the neck bit of the torso should be green fabric not chainmail. Also The fabric on hes legs should be green not red.

This hair would work quite nicely with Eomer in the apropriate color.

I've always wanted to use that hair for male characters, but the fact that the hair doesn't part in the middle at the top makes it look weird. But, that hair was released in an Indy set a few years back in the same color as Legolas's hair, so that could be used.

I think some minifigures would look better with gloves (brown hands)

Gimli, Theoden, Eomer, boromir and aragorn

Seeing as they dont have arm printing, colored hands would have completed the color palette for that characther.

and why one earth does the Theoden/eomer legs have grey "underwear" part?

It's super anoying they messed up the legs thats used for 2 important characthers.

I am a bit of an army builder and really stay away from buying multiples of the BP from the past couple of years for the reason of the extra bricks and vehicles or scenery or put one cool figure and three not so good ones. Solution, buy multiple packs, sell off the bits you dont want on Bricklink or Ebay, use money to buy figures you do want on Bricklink from all the other people selling the ones they don't want.

I would like to see faction BP brought back in a big way and I think they would sell really well. More mounted Rohan please, and elves, and dwarves, and Minas Tirith Gondorian and Gondor rangers, Moria goblins, warg riders, those attack trolls from the third movie, mordor orcs and goblins. Thinking big battle pack onslaught prior to the Battle of the Five Armies should be on the cards...Lego make it so!! :sweet:

I am looking forward to many, many figures being available on Bricklink and building that way. Get 6 figs for the price of 1 BP.

Chainmail dude.

What, all the chainmail and armor is printed on, there no need for them to have a grey groin..

Continuing my Eomer hair quest

This hair looks perfect in the back 92258.jpg

The front LINK is acceptable. knowing some of the girlie-ness will dissapear with Eomers beard.

Does anyone know or want to guess whether Legolas's hair-and-ears piece is yellow ABS with flesh painted ears or flesh ABS with yellow painted hair? I'm hoping the former so that I can remove the flesh paint from the ears to get a completely yellow piece.

In case you hadn't guessed, I'm a yellowist, i.e. an anti-fleshist.

Thanks in advance for any info or your best guess.

That hair would be perfect! What is the cheapest set it is in? I might need to get it!

So far it is only in the Friends Cafe set. it'll propably be in more cheapers sets when wave 2 of friends is out.

Edit: I can only find it in the Cafe set and the upcoming advent calendar set.

I imagine the ears would be the painted part, like in the CMF elf. The hair is still unlikely to be regular yellow, of course: I reckon it's cool yellow as is often used for blond-haired figs. But that's probably better for you anyway, since you'd only need to recolor the ears (I've heard nail polish can be amazing for this purpose).

I know that is the agreement for Star Wars. However, they could have made any agreement they wanted with LOTR. I am sure they would have to pay more to do minifig packs though. I guess we will find out what kind of agreement they have soon. Anyone with news about this would be most welcome if they could pry it from TLG!

The fact that the Uruk set holds more interest to you is cool. Luckily you already have that option. Now I would like an option to get 5 minifigs of one faction at a more reasonable price. Also it doesn't appear you have bought any battle packs in the past. They come with 5 different minifigs and their gear.

If I was your son, I would have complained that my dad didn't get me battle packs from both the good and the bad guys. You had that option and missed out. You are suggesting that it is better not to have the options at all. I can't agree with this line of thinking.

I am suggesting no such thing. You're reading stuff into my post that isn't there.

You stated that you were confused about why people wanted a certain thing. I was just stating a personal preference in the hope it would clarify. I'm all for choice. The more the better.

Actually rereading maybe I misread your post. You specifically talking about choice with regards to my son here? My son was still pretty happy with what he got. And again I'm still not saying I want there to be less options. Just that when there is a choice my preference is different to yours and explaining why. If there had been an equivilent two faction battlepack I would have got that instead and we would have both preferred it. Unfortunately we clearly don't have nearly the level of disposable income that you do. For a lot of us I suspect this is single biggest limiting factor with regards to choice.

But what's the deal with...

Also it doesn't appear you have bought any battle packs in the past. They come with 5 different minifigs and their gear.

Am I missing something? I've bought two or three. Each of them came with 4 minifigures and a small vehicle of some kind. This was the last one I got: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=7913-1

You're coming across as a bit hostile about this stuff. I don't know if that's intentional or not. Sorry if I've somehow inadvetantly offended you I guess. Eh, maybe I've totally got the wrong end of the stick. Easy to do on forums.

I'm sorry, but I feel that this comment is rude. It may not be my place to say anything, but what you said make you seem very greedy, and you are insinuating that his son should be too. I do not mean to offend, but I just feel that what you said was inappropriate and rude.

Anyway, I have a thought on the whole battle pack thing. What if, along with The Hobbit sets, LEGO releases some LOTR BPs. Or even release some in September, as an extra treat, to bridge the gap between this wave and The Hobbit wave. I doubt it will happen, but you never know.

I think Pirates of the Carribean have one. It will vary license to license. Star Wars makes sense because Star Wars action figures are such a massive industry. Lord of the Rings not so much, although there were some and I'm sure there will be for the Hobbit.

I'm still wondering how they'll fit 13 Hobbits DWARVES (Not Hobbits! :iamded_lol:) into the 8(?) sets for the Hobbit film. Although they have two movies to span them over with.

Dwarves, not hobbits. And they did a pretty good job spreading 9 Fellowship members over six LOTR sets. Also, there are fewer minor characters in The Hobbit, which will make space for dwarves. It all depends on how many sets there are and how expensive they are. I'm guessing the biggest set could have three or four dwarves, and the others have maybe two or three.
