squizz Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 I am a huge fan of Ingmars creations and i see there are alot of his fans on this forum as well. I'm interested in building some of his awesome creations and i'm sure there are many more technic builders out there that would be interested in making one of his beautiful MOC's. I would like to ask the eurobrick builders to join me in asking Ingmar to make available some instructions so we all could build some of these great creations? I hope i'm not doing anything inappropriate here, i am just saying please and thankyou for such great work. I will add that i only took up technic lego 3 years ago and since then it has become quite an obsession. I will also add that i think all the builders on this forum do amazing and inspiring work for a novice such as myself, cheers Pete. Quote
DLuders Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 @ squizz: From his Flickr photosets, MOCpages gallery, Brickshelf gallery, and YouTube channel, 2LegoOrNot2Lego (Ingmar van Spijkhoven) sure has a lot of great Lego truck MOCs! I'm not sure how often he looks at this Eurobricks forum, so you should send him a Eurobricks Private Message (PM) to see if he has the time/inclination to make Building Instructions. Quote
timslegos Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 I was thinking the same thing. Although instead of full instructions, i would prefer instructions for smaller things like the truck chassis or the suspension he uses in his trucks. i have actually asked him before by email and he told me that the does not want to make instructions, rather he wants people to figure it out on their own . tim Quote
mahjqa Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 And I think that's a perfectly good reason. Dluders has linked plenty of places where his work can be seen. Making instructions is a very time-intensive process. And even if there are some people silly enough to actually give in to those demands, I fully respect his decision not to. Also, I think that you'll learn a lot more from trying on your own than by following instructions. Quote
dikkie klijn Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 My TowTruck was inspired by the models of Ingmar. And in my opinion building from inspiration is much more fun than building from instructions. As mahjqa says, making instructions is very time consuming, especially a model the size of Ingmars. Quote
KEvron Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 i only took up technic lego 3 years ago and since then it has become quite an obsession. the first step is denying you have a problem. heh! KEvron Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) I once offered him my assistance in making instructions for one of his Trucks, but he hasn't accepted it (yet). Edited April 15, 2012 by Jurgen Krooshoop Quote
Konajra Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 On the europe modelshow in Ede last march, Ingmar told me that he will never make instructions. He said, more or less, that if you want to build one of his models, you should try it with looking at photos of his Mocs. That is also the reason why he just showed some internal parts of his Bell tracked Dumper (youtube video)and not a complete chassis with all the gears and PF. He rather spents his time building new stuff then creating complete building instructions. Quote

Bricksonwheels Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Well, i must say i don't think you have a chance I know Ingmar as a personal friend, and he likes creativity and being original, and not the regular copywork as Konarja said. Be creative, set your brain at work and make something that is your work. Experience will make you better and better and develop your own style. And earning from others creativity... that is just lame in my opinion. Edited July 31, 2012 by Bricksonwheels Quote

Lasse D Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I fully respect the decision by Ingmar van Spijkhoven to not create building instructions. In the time you spend to get into the software an making those instructions you could have built a whole other model instead. It really takes that long! He is building in a large and popular scale where people who have the drive to build models are also able to make their own chassis and work in a community to exchange ideas of how to construct them so they are stable. This contrasts the smaller scales such as 1:22 or 1:25 where I operate. I make building instructions to encourage people to build in this scale so that we can come together at events and make the models interact. With common standards we can also construct trailers, trucks and equipment which fit all together and participate in challenges such as Hard Truck Challenge. Quote
