GDomino Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Thanks DLuders for the welcome. Yes they are the Dick Cepek Giant Pullers from RC4WD. Though expensive, they are a good (and cheaper) alternative to Lego's power puller tires and at almost half the weight of the Lego Power Puller tires. The only drawbacks are the Dick Cepek tire is slightly smaller than the PP tire and the inner sleeve of each tire will need to be trimmed for two 44772 rims/wheels to fit (making sure to cut the correct sleeve for the thread pattern to always be oriented forward). I will take some comparison shots with the PPs when I can and post in the approriate thread. Quote

I wanted to build it then but the only thing that was holding me back was the RC motors and the battery. I love the full axle frame design for the roll cage. Quote

I just wanted to show off my crawler (calling it Tarantula because of the tires) built around Zblj's Panther chassis. I may have went overboard with the roll cage but I like it. Thanks to Zblj for the awesome design - being light weight and extremely fast and having a good balance of weight and power! The way it is geared right now is that it is powerful enough for the Dick Cepek power puller tires (each having two 44772 rims). I just ordered the lighter Krazy crawler tires from RC4WD and will switch to using 12t/20t to see if it performs faster with decent torque. I'm glad you found me an answer, they look great. And yes power pullers do weigh a lot but are still good to own. For functionality yes tall skinny tires with tread will be best but I just love the look of wide monster truck tires. :) Quote

Great job! :thumbup: The inspiration for the frame were those rock bouncers and the formula offroaders, I'm glad you and Zblj noticed. I like the speed this new set up is generating and also enjoy the new off roading capabilities, like kicking up dirt from the sudden burst of accelaration. Trully a perfect balance of torque and speed. This crawler really feels like a rock bouncer now... Quote

The tire is the stadard 1.9 inside diameter that fits the 44772 rim, so no modifications to the rims or tire. I chose these tires for the weight, 67 g, and because they were on sale at RC4WD. Quote

skppo Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Are you powering one axle with one motor? If not I suggest you do as having the axles separate makes both motors use their max power and you could set up the drive shafts to go diffrent directions to help with body roll caused by them. Quote
