I had some time to create this little MOC. It's small, a raft. Not much special. The only thing special is the palm leaf sail. Here's somewhat of a story:

After their ship had sunken, the three pirates lay themselves on a piece of wood from their destroyed ship. They drifted to an island. They stayed there for a year or so. Then, the pirate in the blue shirt said, "This is enough! We must get off this miserable little isalnd!" So, they started building a raft, with barrels, two paddles, and some stray wood, washed ashore from their ship, putting them together to make a raft. They used the outside of a tree branch for rope. They were nearly finished then one pirate said: "What will we use for a sail?" The pirate in the blue shirt said: "Hmm, aha! Palm leaves!" So they put together the sail and put it on the raft, they pushed the raft to the water and it floated. The wind caught up and they were sailing to the sea! For 5 weeks they stayed on the sea, until they broke land. They cheered and cheered, though, a big wave took the raft's life and it was destroyed. Upon getting ashore, they realized and the pirate in the blue shirt said: "Oh no! This is our miserable little island!" So they were again stuck on their miserable little island.

Well i hoped you enjoyed the story, now for the pics:

Imperial Scouts, for some time I have been pondering what possible directions could The LEGO Company go in if they wanted to design another pirate raft around the same size 6257 Castaway's Raft and 6261 Raft Raiders.

It seems like you've come up with a viable concept. Maybe it needs a little refining but you've got something interesting.

I like it, a lot, the only thing is that I do feel it could do with a bit more black to offset the brownness of it all. Brown is one of the few lego colours that I don't regard as looking well on its own. I think a black deck would probably be sufficient.

Yes, it does roll when you blow on the sail :-) . I wanted it to be mostly brown as wood is brown, unless there is some type of black wood I have never heard of :-? . I liked making the sail, it was quite fun.Though, I didn't have a third official lego string so I had to use threaded striing to hole the leaves up, the lego ones were attached to the bottom of the sail. What are some refinings that could be done to the raft MisterPhes?

They are going to fish! :-)

And how are they going to get something to drink?? As we all know you can't drink seawater unless you wanna go nuts (well.. for some of us it wouldn't make a difference).

Interesting! I like the palm leaf sail concept a lot...

Why do you like this concept so much Mr Norro? I like it because its something a bit different however, as I mentioned before I think it could do with some refining.

For instance is that 18 x 2 plate necessary? It looks a little "heavy" for the design, so would it be possible to get away with plates 1 stud wide? There was something else but I'll let Imperial Scouts reply to this comment first...

When I was young, the pirates were always ship-wrecked with various wreckage modiefied structures as their bases, this is a nice idea in that same vein...

God Bless,

The other is the palm leaves... You've got three big palm leaves and one smaller on the (to our) right side of the sail, however shouldn't it be symmetrical? I.e. either 3 big palm leaves an no smaller, or the 3 big leaves and 2 smaller to balance things out.

I quite like that feature of the moc, the whole moc is splendid anyways but it just adds "Realism" Not all leaves are created equal! Very nice

1. "Where exactly were..." is proper english :-) .

2. My room, but to destracted to pick it up and it got swept up with other legos then it dissappeared :-( .

1. "My room, but I was too distracted to pick it up, it got swept up with other Lego bricks and then it disappeared..." is proper english :-) Hippocrit. :-D

2. Small but sweet little moc, and a perfect Lego set. The palm leaves are a nice idea, but somehow I think they would look better facing down.

It seems I have missed Imperial Scouts' reply! Sorry if my comment seemed offensive, I didn't mean it to be thus I put the laughing face that now does not display with the smilie upgrade (I guess you didn't catch my hippocrit comment either).
