I said it on Youtube, and I'll say it again - that Portal display is incredible. Great job.

Nice video! Mahjqa listed these MOCs seen:

Digger - 2Legoornot2lego

Centrifugal governor -- Barman

Black wolf -- Zblj

Cable Climber -- Mahjqa

Zeppelin -- Kenneth Madsen & Lasse Lauesen

Train and Winter scene -- Jason Railton

Portal 2 scene -- Mahjqa

RC monster -- Maico Arts

Does anybody have any additional information about that fast 8-wheeled "RC Monster" that was thrown onto the floor?

I would love to attend one of the major Lego events over in your end of the world... Technic in the states is really not appreciated at all... It is a little frustrating when you view videos and photo albums from events here in the states and the author of the video or photos doesn't even bother to take pics or any video of any of the Technic stuff... This happens quite frequently over here...

I agree completely!! Every show i have been to has little to none technic MOCS. Even the local New England LUG is a train group, and i dont think there are any technic MOCers  .

Nice video!

Yeah seems like lost of people dont get technic, they dont see the complexity or functions, they just want everything to be pretty.

As if I heard my friends- Wow, it can do a lot of things, but why are there holes everywhere? It looks bad.

I say- It's Technic not Model Team.

They do not forget to add- So why don't you try MODEL TEAM?

In irony I reply something as- Why don't you try to cross breed a horse with a parrot? It might look good.

Anyway, my MOCs were the only Technic ones on the Czech exhibition as well.

I would love to go to more of the lego conventions.. default_sceptic.gif

I liked the Portal display as well as the house with all the moving figures! default_thumbup.gif

I am also curious about the 8-wheeled RC truck. It looks very durable. Is it possible that it is using parts from the RC lego cars? (Not technic.. the racer ones like the Dirt Crusher?)

@Paul Boratko

I am also upset by the unpopularity of Technic in the United States. I cannot speak for the entire country, but since elementary school, I have been looking for another student who has shared a passion for Technic like I do. I have not been able to find ANY lego enthusiast regardless of what theme they prefer. I am currently a student in Virginia so I talk to hundreds of people on a day to day basis and I am always surprised by what I find. default_thumbdown.gif Also, I am sad to say that I could not attend the BrickFair (the one at the Dulles Expo center) this year and that you had gone as well!!! default_oh3.gif I have been waiting to see your cars in person but I was out of the country when Brickfair came around!!! default_hmpfbad.gif I attended it the past two years and even brought a couple of my models the first year but school has a way of conflicting with my legos even over summer break. default_wacko.gif

I think The Lego Group is trying to increase sales of their Technic sets. See this

(posted by Waxcomms1) about the Lego "Technic Challenge". No, it's not about the monthly contest hosted on the official Technic website; it's about 12 onsite shows throughout the UK where people can BUILD their Technic creations!

That's an event I would love to go to. I really like the portal display.

I agree with the Technic theme not being as popular, and I too noticed many people leave Technic stuff out of their photo galleries. I get the feeling that even EB overlooks us Technic folks. I've seen some amazing Technic creations posted here, but I have never seen any posted on the front page. Model team stuff yes, but not Technic.

Part of the reason I enjoy going to the conventions is to try and get people interested in Technic. I have a blast answering questions about Technic.

Last year at BrickMagic, a kid was walking towards my Technic tractor, and the mom pulled him away and said, "that's not LEGO, don't look at that".

CRTLEGO, it would have great to have another Technic fan at BrickFair. We didn't have a big Technic turn out. Paul and I had some large mocs, one other guy had some moded sets, and there were a couple of kids with some smaller mocs. Not much else.

Anyways, just my thoughts on that.

I had the exact same thing happen several times at Brickworld 2010 during public hours, kids would come running and parents would pull them away and say "we didn't come here for that, or that's not Lego"... There were also a few builders who had displays there that were real jerks and made very rude comments... Even though I only build in technic, I still respect and love all themes of Lego building... I just think that Technic is misunderstood and possibly a little intimidating, but what many builders fail to accept is that Technic is really a Keystone of the majority of all building...

I am looking forward to doing another Kidsfest next year, because I really got quite a bit of one on one interaction with hundreds and hundreds of kids and parents over the entire weekend and I enjoyed it much more than doing actual fan made Lego events...

Ha ha, good one.

That explains why the Technic category on Lego.com shop at home has been removed.

What do you mean? It's still there?

The Technic theme category is most definitely still on the Shop.Lego.com website -- http://shop.lego.com/en-US/TECHNIC-ByTheme . You can change the "Change Region" at the top-right corner to best match your native country & language.

With the publication of new Lego Technic books (like Isogawa's below, and Sariel's book to be published in Spring 2012), perhaps Technic building will become less intimidating.

I wonder what sariel's book going to be like? :sweet: I don't know how many of these books picked up technic 'afol's',as we really know already that if you put a xl motor connected to some 8th gears and put the gears under stain it is going to make backlash.

If however it was a book on some of his life and his ideas i would buy it as i am a nosey guy.

These RC trucks are indeed build with parts for de Dirt Crusher and Outdoor Chalenger parts.

These cars are very sturdy but LEGO doesn't produce them anymore. They stopped production in 2008...

I have constructed several of these trucks with 4, 5, 6 and even 7 axles.

Kind regards,

Maico Arts
