Paul Boratko Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I don't think that it can get any easier than this. Got the idea separating a tough clip down at the auto shop today with a butter knife... No scratches or damages to any of the pieces and nothing goes flying anywhere... Quote
Phantom59 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Can I ask Why would you need to separate them please Quote
Zerobricks Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 The new hub allows for a much higher steering angle with a CV, so you could use it for that. Quote

Zerobricks Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) Yes they can, with the darker gray part. No friction and a higher angle! Edited October 25, 2011 by Zblj Quote
allanp Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Ah I see. You mean the new dark grey female CV part? If so how do you mount the unimog part, just on the axle? Quote
Meatman Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I really wish I would have seen this before destroying one of my hubs with a screwdriver. Quote

I never tried prying at this location because the slot behind the hub seemed so obviously to be designed for removing the part. Can I ask Why would you need to separate them please The same reason you might take any other two pieces apart. Because they are LEGO. Just because a part may not have a bunch of obvious uses separately for MOCs doesn't mean some of us don't want to take apart the model and build it again. If it doesn't come apart, it is not as fun. Conchas Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I need to separate these, because I was playing with the 4x4 Crawler in the beach and the portal hubs got full of sand... They're stuck!! Is a reason good enough? Full set goint into a bath, piece-by-piece... Quote

allanp Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 It's not too hard to separate these actually. Wedge two strudy butter knives between the parts you want to separate, one in each side. Then twist them in opposing directions. Then spend an hour trying to find where they went Quote
