Paul Boratko Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 When my wife was building the 9395(Which is a really nice model) she called me in to look at the piston rods which appeared to be different than the previous ones... They seemed to have a texture to the ball that connects to the piston head and looked a slightly different shade of light blue gray. Quote
sama Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I already posted information about Lego 9397 a while ago, on page 22. Here is the proper English translation: Requires batteries: 6 x LR6 not included Product description: The huge logging truck is ready to lift all! Use the control box Power Functions on the side of the truck to lower, raise and rotate the arm and unfold motorized outriggers. Then turns and opens the clamp to lift the thickest trunks. This huge model also includes a direction that works, doors and hood that open, revealing an engine with pistons that work, this model is larger than life! Turns into a container truck with snowplow. Kit contents: 1308 elements Anyways, does the logging truck really have a real working steering wheel? Quote
Jim Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 (edited) "direction that works" should probably be translated as "working steering" or something like that, right?! It will have HoG steering like most other vehicles. Edited December 27, 2011 by Gekke Ted Quote
nikolyakov Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 It seems that TLG has changed their molds for the Fake engine parts [/url] have you found more renewed parts? I found this part before the 2012 sets in my 8070. 7 of 8 engine blocks look like this. I was think it is a mistake/corrupt part. Quote
grohl Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I made two video reviews of 9390 and 9394. Quote
zewy623 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 The new engine pieces came with my Unimog yesterday. So they must be replacing the old pieces with a more accurate piece, to make the engine look smoother. Quote
Cwetqo Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 My 8070 got new cylinders too (8 of 8). It was bought several months ago, so this is not something very new. Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 @ Grohl: Thanks for the video's; I guess they are the coolest (9394)and cutest (9390) of the 1h 2012 sets. In my opinion both have some (minor and easily mod-ed) flaws but they but are both really cool starter-models. Quote
grohl Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 JunkstyleGio, you are perfectly correct. If I have time, I will try to modify the jet a bit to fit my personal requirements. Quote
sama Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 And people are saying 8070 looked to much like a "skeleton," wait till they see 9397. The logging truck looks to empty and more like a skeleton, just look at the pictures. It is crazy to believe it has more pieces than 8070. Quote
Traktor Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 At least it is a pretty long "skeleton". Personally I am not to happy about what I have seen of it so far. Looks like a bad copy of the 8285 tow truck with an even worse log crane on the back. The crane is just to simple and looks ver weak. It is probably stronger than the one on 8258, but it surely does not look "stronger" if you know what I mean. Quote
Kronos Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I bought the 9395. Pretty nice model. It has it's flaws, (V4 engine, ect...) but I like it. Already took it apart for other projects. The 9397 crane arm does look weak, but overall, the model looks good. I'm looking foward to the new black panels it offers. Again, I'll most likely build it once, the tear it down for parts. Probably buy a second for the same thing. The RC and Helicopter are on the list, but the heli is most likely for parts, too. Quote
tduby Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 The new engine pieces came with my Unimog yesterday. So they must be replacing the old pieces with a more accurate piece, to make the engine look smoother. Interestingly I just started putting together my new unimog and 3 of the 4 engine pieces were the new style it looks kind of weird. on a side not don't most real unimogs come with 5 cylinder engines? Quote
zewy623 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) @tduby Actually the hundred series have in-line 6 cylinder engines, the thousand series have in-line 4 cylinder engines. The thousand series is more off-road then the hundred series, so they have in-line 4 cylinder engines for better weight distribution. I wonder if Lego meant this to be a thousand series instead of a hundred series. I've also never heard of a Unimog having a 5 cylinder engine, but I don't also know the specs of all Unimogs. And for you 3 new and 1 old engine pieces, you can probably contact Lego and get a replacement piece(s) to have matching engine pieces. And the new style is supposed to give the engine a smoother look for more accurate representation of real vehicles. And welcome to Eurobricks tduby! Edited December 29, 2011 by zewy623 Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 With just 7 extra pieces the 9394 Jet Plane stand two studs higher and looks so much better. Quote
DLuders Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 @ JunkstyleGio: With your mods to the 9394 Jet Plane, can the landing gear still fit into the fuselage when folded? Can the plane now "rotate" for takeoff/landing without striking its tail on the "runway"? P.S. I got "The Cult of Lego" book for Christmas and it features your vignette on Page 23. I agree with you -- the only best genres are "LEGO TECHNIC, LEGO TECHNIC, and LEGO TECHNIC!" Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 @ DLuders: The wheels don't fold completely back into the fuselage, but if thats the only setback... I'm happy with this mod for now.. Getting to fold the wheels completely in would mean a complete redesign of the model... Finding my photo in the Cult of Lego book was indeed a nice surprise. Too bad the info that came with it is from 2008... Now I have another favorite theme: LEGO TECHNIC! Quote
davidmull Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Has anyone bought or built the quad yet, looks pretty cool for a small set and the only one I might buy till the log truck in march ;) Quote

It might be the best quad, although the white one was nice too. Nice color scheme, nice wheels, etc. Quote
barman Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) I ordered the new Technic mini turntables at S@h service. Today they came in. Lego code / Description / Price 4652235 / lower part turntable / € 0,66 4652236 / upper part turntable / € 0,58 These are European prices, so I don't know how pricey they are outside Europe. Now I have 8 of them to play with. Don't know in which MOC I am going to use them, but always handy to have around. Edited December 30, 2011 by barman Quote
