SkaForHire Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Hi all, I have been working on a port in my spare time, and i keep ripping it apart. But i came up with one building that i liked. I am not sure if it will be in my eventual goal of a pirate town called "Plunder Bay" or if it will go into the out regions of my port city i am trying to build called "Port Danielle" Anyway, again this is a MOC made from Pick a Brick wall extras. It has "island colors" or seems to to me, thats why i am leaning more towards a pirate building. I tried to make it as much like a lego set as possible. I left the back open, and tried to create some sort of pattern i thought lego might use. i also had too many of those aweful KK2 base pieces to use. It is hard to use those corners... Oh well, take a look here is the gallery when it goes public And here is a pic until then: Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 10, 2006 Governor Posted August 10, 2006 Ahhh, a non ship MOC! What a refreshing change this is! Not that there's anything wrong with ship MOCs but there does seem to be a lot of them lately so its nice to have a variety. How does this tower fit into Port Danielle and the grander scheme of your concept? Quote

Captain Roger Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Is original, well worked and useful...I think is a great MOC...I love it, you are a MOC artist man. Keep it up Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 10, 2006 Governor Posted August 10, 2006 These pieces appear to be using the new colour palette and to me these knew colours look more childish - brighter and more pastel like. But that observation is not intended to discredit the MOC, rather The LEGO Company's decision to choose these colours. Do I see two Captain Redbeard/Roger in this MOC? Quote
Berry Syedow Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 The second I laid eyes on this tower I loved it! Sure, it's disgustingly <insert that tiresome argument>, but it works. I'd remove the teal, IMHO, however. The concept is great on its own merit. (Beside the risk of fire. :-P) What inspired the MOC? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 10, 2006 Governor Posted August 10, 2006 I wouldn't say the structure of this MOC is any more "junorised" then those of the original SYSTEM Pirate sets, but these new colours are rather loud. Too loud for my liking! Or maybe its just the image... Or maybe its just my head... I thought I better clarify that distinction... Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted August 11, 2006 Governor Posted August 11, 2006 You've done well out of the Pick A Brick! I suppose I'm just not used to the colours being so vibrant since I haven't purchased a brand new LEGO set that I opened since 1993. Quote
Captain Ironhook Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 This very Moc is what I imagine the Lego factory would make new pirate lego sets look like. It looks like it could be a modern set to me and knowing how mordern Lego sets are made this look is what they would do. Come on, lets not fooled ourselfs do you really think Lego would start making sets like they did 15 years ago? No, they would not, the sets would look like u see here. Quote

No, they would not, the sets would look like u see here. i dont know if that is a negative or a positive... but i think you are wrong, if TLG made new pirates they would have less pieces then my tower LOL... like the whole sides would be one piece, or even the whole floor with sides and ceiling inclueded in one big box piece. and the pirates would end up flesh toned or something horrible.... Governor Mister Phes Posted September 12, 2006 Governor Posted September 12, 2006 Given that The LEGO Company has changed the LEGO colour palette and stated they're not going back to the old colours (or so I've been told) it would seem most likely if there were new Pirate sets then we probably should expect these newer brighter and more juvenile shades of colour. I don't get why The LEGO Company saw the need to brighten up the colours? Did they assume the brighter colours would stimulate the childrens mind more thus making them want to purchase more LEGO? They are nott negative words against you ska but they are negative words against the decision of the Lego factory to make these childrens colors. But do not even suggest the very thought of skin tonned pirates for it makes my blood run cold. I do like yor moc but it is a shame that the colors have gone this way. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 21, 2006 Governor Posted September 21, 2006 Please no! Not flesh toned pirates! Its bad enough the colour palette has shifted but making the pirates flesh toned would be terrible! Aside, from the other reasons I've mentioned in the past, if The LEGO Company was to release flesh toned pirates they wouldn't work well with my extensive yellow pirates. They'd seem rather silly mixed together. Quote

I caught a glance of one a few months ago...) What is so terrible about the current color palette? Haven't only the greys and brown been affected? (If not then I am worried.) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 30, 2006 Governor Posted October 30, 2006 The grey Palpatine face would make a good zombie face. What's zombies got to do with anything, anyway? Quote
oo7 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 The grey Palpatine face would make a good zombie face.[image] What's zombies got to do with anything, anyway? Mr. Syedow is saying that if lego makes fleshtone pirates in a new line we could mix them together with yellow pirates and pretend that they are zombie pirates. But as long as we're talking about zombies, the HP troll is a good one too. And Darth Vader And the Adventures mummy And the Studios Mummy And the Tusken Raider Too many pictures, find the last one yourself. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 30, 2006 Governor Posted October 30, 2006 Actually I've just won a mini-figure off eBay that has a zombie like head. I'm not sure who it is, maybe Snape from Harry Potty. But here he is on the right... Quote
