Korni Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Do you have any suggestions for improvement? NO! I love it! Quote
Pat-Ard Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Hi Tim, that cab looks really great!!! And I really like your rear axles... Hm, maybe I biuld the Zetros 6x6 Pat Edited September 8, 2012 by Pat-Ard Quote
Out of Sight Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) @Tim Perfect...the only suggestion I can give you is a rounded front fender to make it more accurate to the real thing, maybe using tubings like the supercar sets. If Lego prolongs its licensing with Mercedes Benz..I'd like to see the UGH series 4000 Mog in future flagship sets. Edited September 8, 2012 by Out of Sight Quote
timslegos Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 @Tim Love the yellow cab! As for the rear axle, you might want to consider attaching the turntables to two 8T gears that go together to a locked differential. That way when one axle goes down, the other goes up. It might prevent the axles from being to out of line. tim Quote
sama Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Holy mackerel does that Unimog U4000 look so good! Great job! Quote
Tim S. Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Thanks guys. For me the proportions of the cabine are not that good as the original... @Out of Sight: Yes, rounded fenders are a must! It will be done soon. Regards Tim Quote
dr_spock Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Good work. For a 6x6, the U4000 cabin looks better. Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 With those 1x2 liftarms you created realistic shapes, really good! I would try to place the rear liftarms at the cab exactly in the middle to devide the rear window into two small ones as it is in real. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Hi Tim, I like your tandem axle design... And another thing. To make the tandem axles more flexible I'm building a new one. What do you think about this design? Thanks in advance! Tim What about to add a diff in the center, too? Wouldn't it be better than the knob wheels? Pat Quote
Gene Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Hi All Unimog Fans! Thanks for all the reviews and findings. My set was kept for almost a year because I've no idea where to display is huge Technic model after completion. Great kit indeed! Am thinking to invest 9398 for RC since I've a good pneumatics components with 8110. Quote
DLuders Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 @ Gene: Welcome to Eurobricks! You had the restraint to keep your 8110 Unimog in the box for a year? You should build it and display it proudly for all to see! Quote
skylinedan Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I think I might build mine again and do some modding, I have too, so I can build something pretty cool. I gotta tear apart my 8421 XL first, need the room, LOL. I,ve been thinking about a Uni mog cab with the axle set back behind it and a 8x8 set up. Not really a uni mog except for the cab, but thought it would be cool. Dan Quote

You should build it and display it proudly for all to see! Yes, I'm very happy for this investment. It took me over 12hr. Dismantled the front tilted chassis twice because i cannot accept the look of the left suspension! Did a little mod (Book 2, pg 49, no 19) which was mentioned in this thread. Yes, my iPhone is full of snapshots images and pointers for quick references. @ Gene: When looking at your avatar picture it looks like you're using third party tires on your Unimog!? Would you mind to post some additional pictures? Was poisoned by 211000224 Ansmann Racing Crawler Wheels...this is an investment for future adventure with 9398. Stock tires are rather nice too. doug72 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Re Unimog steering: has anyone figured out how to use the new servo motor to steer the Unimog and will it be powerful enough ? Quote
Tim S. Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Hi, the fenders are now round and I´m working on the interior. Furthermore I have changed the chassis, to add the attachments. Here are some pics. regards Tim Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Round fenders, great! Would be great if you can implement round fenders at the rear tandem axle as well. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Hi Tim, the Mog looks great!!! What about using this part at the upper part of the grille? Pat Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I like the changes you are making Tim. Will the cab of the original version fit onto the longer wheelbase chassis? I think it would look quite good if i did fit. Quote
Tim S. Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Will the cab of the original version fit onto the longer wheelbase chassis? I think it would look quite good if i did fit. It did. But now the chassis is 2 studs longer because of the u4000 cabine. regards Tim Quote
