Crtlego Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Like some other people.. I just saw this on TechnicBricks and immediately knew that there would be people on Eurobricks discussing the new part.. We are so predictable. As for the set.. I like the look of it and the way those doors swing out like that but that's pretty much it.. If I were to get that set it would be for the panels, the wheels, and the steering/drive assembly, + M Motor. As for the new part. Looks REALLY useful and once I get a couple of those.. OUT WITH THE UNIVERSAL JOINTS!!!! What I think is the best thing about the new part is demonstrated perfectly in this new set. I always wanted to use the open frame to place the differential and steering and suspension but I couldn't do it how I wanted because of universal joint. With the use of this new part.. The suspension arms can go one space closer and be attached to the open frame in the exact same way as in the 8070.. Now I'll have to wait to order the new piece from Lego Direct or from BrickLink... LegOscar Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 (edited) That new piece really is a gain to the lego parts repertory, but for the set I had rather seen some working propulsion and steering because who cares if the hood opens electrically? Edited January 22, 2011 by LegOscar Quote

Thats my opinion too, to be honest . I am sold on the set for parts mind Quote
merman Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I must say I am a bit fed up with the fact 8258, 8265 and 8070 all use the same construction of the frame with the differential and the 3L perpendicular connectors. A bit more variation please. Quote

RockeTeK Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 oops I didnt connect it up lol Would you mind building the B-model aswell (and post a vid or pics ofcourse)? Quote
Yendred Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 At last, TLG has put the instruction booklets in an envelope. Why on hell did they wait that long to take this simple precaution ! Quote
buddy Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 At last, TLG has put the instruction booklets in an envelope. Why on hell did they wait that long to take this simple precaution ! I think I read somewhere that TLG now put the instructions in an envelope backed with a piece of cardboard for all sets with over 1000 pieces in them. ~buddy~ Quote

allanp Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I have purchased the car despite my previous post of "F&%K THAT" The reason, even tho it has over 1200 pieces I wasn't sure, but the new female CV joints clintched it, and I can tell you they are great. They look quite strong and rotate at an angle with very little friction. This might be old news now but the new diff spins much more freely in the 5x7 frame too. All that is left to change now is the high friction of the CV joint in the wheel hub part. This should be much less, like the new female CV part. BTW, the male CV joint has no friction to keep an axle in the end of it. Combined with the new female part this can now be used as an extention tube, spline shaft for live axles. This really is a great new part, nice one TLG! Quote

RockeTeK Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 if there was instructions I would! Send an Email to TLG? Quote
allanp Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Whats the max angle for the new CV? I hope its at least 30 degrees! It looks to be identical to the wheel hub, so not very big. Quote
merman Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 What's the studlength of the flexible axles? I count 1 black 12L axle and 2 red 12L axles Quote
BrickWild Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 If you have better pics of the set & features, can you show them to us? Quote
MarcusB Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Wow. This car is much better than I expected! It is a must buy for me. Quote
efferman Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 at amazon de it is listed for 110€. release date is the fith march Quote
Sam42 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 It looks to be identical to the wheel hub, so not very big. *digs out hub assembly to check angle* even with limited range they look like an interesting alternative to the fragile u-joints, especially with their ability to compensate for odd or variable length transmission... we'll have to see how much load they can take Quote
Zerobricks Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Does the CV click in the new part? Hope it doesnt just lay there. Quote
RockeTeK Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Does the CV click in the new part? Hope it doesnt just lay there. I think it is the same type of connection like the 8466 4x4 offroader. That would yield "yes" to answer your question. Quote
junglistjoey Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Hmmmm maybe I should buy as many 8070's as I can, get the ferry over to europe and sell sell sell Quote
allanp Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Yes they do click into place, meaning they sould be good for variable length transmission axles. They also spin nice and freely unlike how stiff they are in the hubs Quote
TechnicJuan Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Hmmmm maybe I should buy as many 8070's as I can, get the ferry over to europe and sell sell sell Looks like someone already beat you to it. LINK $300 USD + $96 USD to ship Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Can someone with the instructions booklet please confirm that the new female CV-part has number 4610374? The photo on TechnicBricks is not very sharp in that area. Also, what length is the Technic Link? It clearly has number 4629920 in the instructions but this does not yield any result at BrickLink. Is it a new one? Previously we've had 1 x 6 and 1 x 9. Quote
MarcusB Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 junglistjoey, can you confirm if the function changing box is centered in the car? From the underside pics that you posted, the driving rings look like they are a stud more towards what would be the passenger side of the car. Thanks. Quote
