Zerobricks Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Whats different about 24 tooth gears? Quote
DLuders Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 (edited) Hmmm, the Bricklink inventory for the 8043 Motorized Excavator set shows the 3648 24-tooth Lego Technic gear that's been out for years. Does yours look different than this? As far as digging in sand, Page 8 of the 8043 Building Instructions shows a big red circle with a line through it to indicate that you SHOULD NOT dig sand with it! They lubricated the Linear Actuators, and the last thing you want is to introduce ABRASIVES to gum-up the LAs. Also, since you have the NEW, improved 8043 set (and I have the original, pre-LA-fiasco version from August 2010), can you confirm that the NEW Building Instructions have corrected an error? Crtlego Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I didn't get my excavator for Christmas but I was able to time my build... approximately 3 and a half hours. I tried to build it quickly because I was eager to play with it and take it apart to use in my mocs.. Quote

Out of Sight Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) well Santa didn't get me the 8043, he said I was bad this year...so I bought it myself It took me 3 days to build the 8043 between work breaks, with a total of 10 hrs build time. Since I just got back into Technic, I decided to build it slowly as not to goofed up on any building steps, I mean my previous excavator was the tiny and simple 8047..it's a real bummer knowing you misplaced an axle burried deep inside and having to walk back few steps back just to disassemble it I also had a pack of Marlboro lights standing by to calm the nerves..a double espresso coffee to keep my eyes open.
