Superkalle Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I've bumped into this connection that will not work in LDD, i.e. when placing LATTICE 9X13 M (6046) in BRICK 2X2 W/GROOVE A.CR.HOLE (90258) (or similar bricks, all marked red in the image below). The only brick that will allow connection to the LATTICE is 30272 (marked green). Does any one of you know if any of the red bricks has been used in any official set together with 6046 LATTICE (or any similar door/window element with rounded edges)? Quote
Calabar Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) It seems to be an alignment issue. You can manually place the lattice, but LDD don't recognize the connection, so you can't slide it up. alignment.zip Edited December 14, 2010 by Calabar Quote

Calabar Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 No, it seems that piece was not used in that way, but only with portal bricks or clips. Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Still the grove is same, no? So it could be used in same way. Quote

Yepp, it could be used in the same way with physcial lego, but has it ever been in an official set? Or is there any other similar part that has been used in a sliding capacity, such as: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=62113 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=47996 Quote

I don't know a set in which this is used. Normaly the brick 6056 (brick 2x2x6 with groove) is used in all the castle sets. But this has the same problem, it will not fit. As soon as the 6046 slides below the top part of 30272, it gets disconnected. Physical the 6056 is a pile of 4216 stacked on each other. Probably is has to do with the shape. The 30272 has a circular shaped groove, equal to the 6046. All the other bricks have a square shaped groove, so it could be considered as a loose connection. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Reviewing some instruction booklets on various sites, here's what I found: Sets 6086, 6090, and 6097 used the lattice with part 6056, an irregularly-shaped 2x2x6 brick with groove, and part 4216, a 1x2 brick with groove. I'm fairly certain part 30272 did not exist when these sets were released. Other than that, all sets to use part 6046 as a portcullis used it with part 30272. Quote
AndyC Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 6086 Black Knight's Castle as this 'issue', though I took it to be because it doesn't actually connect to it (at least in the traditional sense). With a little bit of creative work you can position it in roughly the right place. Quote
Calabar Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) I've both 6086 and 6090, and only 6090 has brick 4216. Here it is possible to see that 6097 (dated 1997) too uses brick 4216. It is a clear example, but the set is old, and superkalle needs a recent exploit. Edited December 14, 2010 by Calabar Quote
