teflon Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I am a follower of this forum for quite some time, however I was more on the reading side. This year I get into trains (my mainly interest is still technic). However since we just entered the happy December, I guess it is time to show some creations. Let's start with something small - a small holiday steam locomotive made for running short trains around our Christmas tree. Emerald Night is nice and elegant but a bit on the large & heavy side. Not to mention that you need to drag a battery box in the tender. I had to do something smaller, therefore I present you a small steam locomotive ready to push around the holiday train. Please note that I have found a large inspiration from Jason Steinhurst (Jayhurst). The length of the undercarriage is 16 studs, the whole length is around 20 studs. The loco measures 6-7 studs in width with maximum width of 10 studs. It is fuly equiped with PF (battery box, IR receiver and motor). It is very fast so I am quite careful around corners. A bit more pictures can be found here. I hope you like my creation. Quote
kost u grlu Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 It is very hard to put all PF electronics in a small space, but you've done it very well! This loco is very cute! nice job! Quote
MightySlickPancake Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Well done . I know how hard it is to put pf in a small train, so this is impressive. May I suggest making the boiler rounder using more slopes. Thanks, CB Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Nice classic Legotown style engine 'teflon', I do agree with Crabboy about the boiler to be a little move rounded.....arch bricks might help. Anyway excellent installation of PF and keep up the great work ! Quote
teflon Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Thanks for the encouragement. I agree that rounded bricks might do a better job, however I just have those slopes handy. I try to learn better loco-shaping techniques. And this are the reason why I needed a working locomotive right away: video 1 and video 2. Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Nice loco, very small and cute! Did you use M motor? And what battery box did you use, the Lipo or AAA? Quote
teflon Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 I have used the train motor. I need a bit more building skills to be able to use the M motor. I've also used the AAA battery box. Quote
CarrollFilms Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 This is very cool, I wish i could have one of those, it's so compact. Have you made mini passenger cars yet? Quote
