ADHO15 Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 As my LDD decided to don't function anymore, can I have bigger screenshots to see hao the build proceed? Sorry. I made them small so I could deeplink them all in the first post when we've finished. I'll try to upload bigger screenshots to use in the links. Quote
ADHO15 Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 AND WE'RE DONE! Congratulations to all the participants! It truly is a magnificent work of LEGO art! Quote
Superkalle Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Thanks ADHO15 for holding this contest - you did a great job navigating between seriousness and having fun. I guess it's time for reflections. In the meantime, I'll frontpage this unique build Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Jay! When's the next one Maybe a different theme, like nature, or space or something? Edited November 23, 2010 by Zblj Quote
Dr. Marc Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Wow. This MOC looks great. Great job everyone. The RCB is really a great idea. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 It looks great! It was great fun to see what everyone could add to the project. Quote
Flare Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Great work everyone! Thats really impressive. If you do another one, I might volunteer Quote
Erdbeereis Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 You guys did an excellent job with this. The building turned out great. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Yay! It looks pretty good, although I see no one put flowers on my wee- ah, lemongrass. EDIT: I see some flowers are flowering. Edited November 23, 2010 by Brickdoctor Quote

When's the next one Maybe a different theme, like nature, or space or something? If you get some ideas listed here, I'll add a poll so we can see what's popular for the next one! Yay! It looks pretty good, although I see no one put flowers on my wee- ah, lemongrass. Or connected the garden to the house! Never mind! I guess it won't be a good idea to get anoter one going in this same thread, but I don't mind hosting the next! Edited November 23, 2010 by ADHO15 Quote
Masked Builder Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Looks very good! I like what everyone has done to it! I may do this if it happens again. Quote
buddy Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Great work everybody! The building looks amazing. ~buddy~ Quote
Wout Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) What a very nice moc have you made together! The house looks a bit mediterranian to me and the garden has nice details (as far as I can see). Edit: corrected my spelling. Edited November 23, 2010 by Wout Quote

Plus Castle uses a lot of fire. Quote
prateek Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 The picture on the front page looks really epic! Great work guys! I can't wait for the next one! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Congratulations everybody for a successful build! It was really nice to witness members of different interests, skills, and stature here in EB working together and putting their creativity in the works to come up with this wonderful creation. Kudos also to ADHO15 and Superkalle for organizing this first-ever LDD RCB. Now, I have a suggestion, which just popped out of my head during the course of this RCB: Why not a Relay Community Build Contest ? I'm not sure on my EB history, but I guess this will be the first group-based competition here in EB(?). A group of 5 members each will create a build following the RCB rules (20 steps, no editing of previous step, parts using existing lego colors only, etc.) The members will be ramdomly grouped by the contest organizer for fairness (nobody wants to see 5 MOC Experts grouping together ). What's good about this idea is that: 1) It's pretty easy to do, since you only need LDD, and of course your creativity and building skills. 2) Members, who have been wanting to join EB contests but cannot due to limited bricks and parts, can now join and participate. 3) It will promote camarederie among members which normally don't interact that much. 4) Finally, this contest will be all about having FUN! (Like how fun it was joining the first RCB). Well, I hope you take this suggestion into consideration. It will be really nice to see a group-based contest, a sort of a anithesis to the traditional every-man-for-himself contests. Quote

That sounds like an excellent idea that could be a lot of fun too. The random grouping may not be a great idea because, not naming anybody here, someone might get stuck with a load of rubbish builders when they'd prefer to build with their friends. Many real life team games, eg. pub quizzes, team sports, etc. consist of groups of friends working together. I'd suggest that teams of five may enter and any smaller teams get joined together randomly. It may make it a big less fair, but that's how contests work. Someone with talent, lots of bricks and a good camera will likely beat someone with one set. I know LDD is supposed to eliminate these problems, but I guess they're just two ways of doing it. Thanks for putting your idea forward! Quote

CorneliusMurdock Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Great idea, KDM! I'm always up for a contest! Now if I only had some friends... jk I think every team might have to be regulated, though. I think even with the build we did we needed ADHO to keep us honest. We would have to make sure that the build was truly a relay rather than just preplanned. Or we wouldn't know who was on our team until they were finished with their step of the build. That might be even more fun and would keep the random selection. An organizer could act like ADHO did but for every team at once as separate builds. Quote
uitzetter Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 hello everyone and congratulations to every builder of this great and beautiful building. It's really amazing I would definitely build this. What great little details! Congrats again to you all! I'm hoping for a next community build. Really great! Does anybody have enough bricks to build this in real life? Would be great to see this Quote

CMP Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I was thinking. I'm sure most of you have heard about the non-LDD Community builds on this forum, for example, the Pirate one, and the Castle one. What if, very simply, we did that in LDD? At the end, we'd be able to put them together to make an entire city. (Or kingdom, or port.) Quote

The only thing to decide would be whether to build a ship or a port. I think we should finish up the four classics before moving on. We've done Town, so what's left are Castle, Pirates, and Space.
