shimon Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hello all! I have started a project about a month ago; it is a mobile crane something like Liebherr LTM 1100 I dont do exact shapes and stickers i just want to make a good looking and functional crane. This mobile crane is made with a PF compatibility module - it can be operated manually or PF Note: all the PF parts are removable and the model can be easily operated. In my first time i build a large model with Technic parts and somehow the chassis are very light and solid and also may remind some of TLG build (i think) I almost finished the mobile (i dont have much time for LEGO), hope everything will work ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Functions: all the functions work great, driving, steering, outriggers... The final model will include: 4 PF lights 2 battery boxes 4 IR recievers 6 M motors 2 XL motors Or none of these. Please tell me what you think Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Looks great so far! Hope you find the time to finish it! Quote
DLuders Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) It looks very robust and solid! Is there any chance that you could make a video of it, so that we can see its operation? How many sections of the telescoping boom are you going to make? From the Liebherr website: "The LTM 1100-4.2 features top capacities in the class of the 4-axle mobile cranes. Additionally the telescopic boom can be extended by lattice boom parts and a double swing-away jib." Edited November 2, 2010 by DLuders Quote
jantjeuh Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The LTM 1100-4.2 to be exact Looks good so far indeed, can't wait to see the finished build. Are you also planning on fitting it with a seven section boom, just like the real deal? Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 So far it looks really sturdy and clean! Will you reinforce turntable? Quote
shimon Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Thanks. About the turntable, of course i will make it stronger by adding wheels on the sides but that will be on the crane section. About the boom extension: that is the thing that inspired me building it, im thinking of making a 3-5 sections boom . but it is very difficult to be operated in such scale without bending when lifting weights (ill try to come up with something). Ill make a video of it as soon as i get some free time. Edited November 2, 2010 by shimon Quote
fmix Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 3-5 sections boom! That's should be great. As you mentioned, structure like cylindrical shape or something would be required. Quote
Milan Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I like when someone is building a mobile crane! Nice start, it is in scale as the one I am working on. My only criticism is the size of the tires, Liebherr LTM on 19studs wide chassis should have bigger tires, but these looks good, too! Good luck with this one! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 another crane model lol looks good ,i see that you have not gone for tele legs like other people but i guss the legs you gone for is easyer to be biult.i dont know if you would want to improve the size of the wheels as you have got most of the bottem done thay are just a bit skiny. ps milan you better get a move on with your crane as it seems other people are over taking you in the crane moc race lol Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Looks great! I like what I see so far! Quote
shimon Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 @ Milan: Thanks, i would like to see your Liebherr crane too! Secondly about the tires:i am not very experienced nor rich in parts(tires)in these kinds of building. so for now instead going a hard work im just trying to make a light, easy and solid crane. About the outirggers : i wanted to make a new outstanding style of outriggers but, it was just hard to fit it without damaging the easy design. I wanted to make outriggers that in 1 function(button press) extend and after that deploy using clutches and differentials. the whole thing is pretty heavy; mostly because of the power functions so i just hope the wheels would stand the weight and the force given. Now all i need is time and money for some yellow bricks =) Thanks again for all the comments. Quote
rjk1977 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 great crane , very clean looking good job. I rather see normal outriggers, hut hey these will do just fine Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 This thing looks like it's gonna be really cool Quote
