Prawns Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hello there! I recently upgraded my LLD to version 4, but now when ever I try to open it, nothing really happens at all. It Tries to load but the application doesn't actually open up. However, LLD does appear in my Processes tap in task manager. Before the update everything worked fine. I even tried reinstalling it and restarting, but still nothing. I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with this problem before. Thanks in advance. Quote

Prawns Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 I have 3gb of ram and a nvidia Geforce 8500m g graphics card. I'm not sure If its a hardware issue as I can play other games perfectly fine. Also, An other detail that I forgot was that LLD crashed the first time I ran 4.0 (During the loading screen). Quote

Did you activate Universe mode before launching? This seems to be a bug, but it works fine for me. Quote

Yes, I had Universe mode Activated before updating. Will disabling it help? I also did what the official website suggested and updated my drivers but still nothing. Prawns Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 Trued disabling Universe mode, but still LDD does not properly load. The official LDD site says to update your drivers but even then it won't load. Quote

merman Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) I had the exact same issue and followed these instructions posted in another thread. It resolved my issues completely! 1. Close down LDD. Optional: Start Task Manager and make sure there is no LDD.exe running. If there is, kill it. 2. Uninstall LDD 3. Delete this entire folder and content: C:\Users\[userName]\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer. This is for Win7. For other OS, it should be similar paths. (you may want to copy the LU Mode activation line so that you can paste it in after LDD is re-installed). 4. Delete this entire folder and content: C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer 5. Re-install LDD from the setup file found here 6. Re-insert the LU Mode activation line. 7. Start LDD Edited November 2, 2010 by merman Quote
LEGO Ink Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Thanks for this Alt. install method, 5 days later I can now use LDD again!! Quote

Randal Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I wonder why that didn't affect me? I had LU mode on 3.1 and when I upgraded it worked fine and opened up having LU already activated. I guess I'll count my blessings, I'm usually the one that is mired in complications. =S Quote

skymapper Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I've tried those instructions, but it doesn't work for me. This app is D.O.A. A friend had recommended MLCAD as that's what he uses. Quote

Bojan Pavsic Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I had the same issue... I did have 3.1, upgraded to 4.0. It worked for some time, then all of a sudden, it stopped with the symptoms described (loading in background, filling up memory, then disappearing from process list). After a "fresh" reinstall, it started to work again. It may be connected to the fact, that i run 3.1 + 4.0 at the same time, because of my issues with the 4.0 (can't change the theme, because LDD vanishes immediately). I have created another user "LDD31" just for LDD 3.1 on my computer and installed 3.1 as that user. Then i log on as my normal user. When i want to run 3.1, i right click on the 3.1 icon and press "Run As.." option and run it as LDD31 user. This way i can have two projects open at once and build in 3.1 (which is quite faster on large brick count projects) and preview them with the edges and shading in 4.0. Quote
