Cpt. Postma Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Hi All! Thanks everybody for all the compliments and feedback. I definitely appreciate it. And thanks again Eric for writing such a thorough description. There's not much more that I need to say about this MOC, Eric really captured it all. As promised, I have uploades some photos to my Flickr account. You can view them at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cpt-postma/sets/ I have also uploaded two videos which you can find at: The first is a nicely made slideshow of the plane and the second is a home video that one of my friends took when I unveiled the plane to my friends at a party. It's pretty rough but I do go through the whole demo and answer some common questions as well. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. -Marius Quote
Zerobricks Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I think we all agree ITS AWESOME! the details like variable pitch, hidden landing gears, compressor, lights.... It all makes it one of the best and most functional models I ever saw! Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) Agree, I think the fact that it's mostly composed of classic Technic bricks (studfull rather than studless) also adds a lot to its beauty. It's a shame LEGO have hardly been using any studded elements in recent sets.. IMO the combination of studfull + studless yields the best results both aesthetically and in terms of rigidity and sturdiness. Edited October 25, 2010 by jantjeuh Quote
Blakbird Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 Thanks for all the additional data and photos. I particularly appreciate those taken from inside the cabin and flight deck. Even though I was there to see the model, there was no way I could get any interior pictures with my giant SLR camera. You must have used something really small, but the pictures look great. Thanks again for sharing this creation. Quote
DLuders Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 @ Cpt. Postma: From your Flickr photostream, I noticed that there is an 11-year gap between this "Baby Twin Otter" MOC and your other creations. Did it take 11 years to create this magnificent aircraft, or did you "take a break" from Lego Technic? Please say that you won't ever disassemble this masterpiece! Quote
Cpt. Postma Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 @ Dluders: It just looks like there's an 11-year gap because, to the best of my knowledge, Flickr does not allow me to set the order that photos show up in my photostream and the last thing I had uploaded before the Baby Twin Otter was a bunch of old MOCs. If anybody knows how to sort the photostream, I'd love to hear from you. I usually do produce between two and five MOCs a year, but only a handful are noteworthy. The last big thing I built was another airplane, a minifig scale Boeing 737 which I built in 2005. So no, no 11-year holiday or or 'dark ages' for me. I have been happily and continuously building LEGO for as long as I can remember Quote
Blakbird Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Hmm, Marius doesn't post here any more, but if he did he'd have an excellent chance of winning the TSATS contest with this "water themed MOC". Quote
allanp Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) WOW!!!! How did I miss this first time round! It's epic, I love how, despite it's huge size, it looks to be jam packed with mechanisms and things and it copies the real life craft really well. Edited March 26, 2012 by allanp Quote
timslegos Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Wow i am impressed looking back on this. Very cool large model. tim Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I had the pleasure of meeting Marius at Brickcon last year. Super cool guy, although I was a bit bummed that I didn't get to see his plane. Way cool moc. Quote
KEvron Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 ooof! nobody tell him about the contest. KEvron Quote
Carsten Svendsen Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 That's a very good model of the real deal. Nice details too. I don't like studded beams though but that doesn't make the model any less spectacular Quote
