DLuders Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 On MOCPages , Nick Barrett has taken the classic Lego 8860 Auto Chassis set and made it into a Porsche 356 "2+2" convertible hardtop. Be sure to check out his 9 photos and detailed explanation of his creation. His brief summary: "Any fan of 1980s Technic will tell you how great the 8860 is... but it's not perfect. I decided to update it a bit with new features. This is not 100% MOC but I hope you don't mind. "Anyhow, I have given it a double wishbone front suspension with smoother acting steering with a steering wheel that manages to be closer to the middle of the seat. I've also rearranged the reinforcement of the rear end to find room for a pair of folding '+2' rear seats. There is a little more detail in the dashboard/centre console area and the front seat backs are shapelier and shorter and they've gained sliding headrests." Quote
TechnicJuan Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 One of the worst things about studded technic parts, when they get dirty, they get dirty. Especially Black. Quote
Fyredog Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I love it - Old school Old school old school, and you mad a great MOC with old school! I bought a portion of that kit and bought the rest of the parts to complete that kit because it is so cool! Great work! Quote
Silcantar Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Nick Barrett is the reason I'm an old school Technic semi-purist (along with Ape Fight). I love how his cars are nearly as realistic as anything by Crowkillers, using only classic Technic and with that wonderful classic Technic feel. Yes, I'm a little biased. Correction: it is not a Porsche 356; he said that the chassis is reminiscent of a 356, but that the curvy bodywork would require some kind of "Firas" (in reference to Firas Abu-Jaber). Quote
Orcasek Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 This is so neat, I love the curve made by just plates! Quote

It is quite amazing what some of these guys can do with just technic parts. Edited July 22, 2010 by TechnicJuan Quote
Jetro Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 A real beauty. BTW, washing studded parts isn't easy, but it can be done... Quote
