DLuders Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Want to scare your "significant other" with a Lego Technic spider? You can build arcanemettles' "Lego Technic Spider! 583 elements, 2 M-Motors, Theo Jansen style legs, and IR remote control. Each motor drives the legs (and pedipalps) on one side, allowing the spider to go forward, back, and to turn. Photos are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/arcanemettles/ and cut-away images and the LDRAW file are at http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=438194 ." Quote
Sternford Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 That is very cool. The legs look a bit unstable though, since they are only connected to the body on one side Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Thats really cool and positevely freaky I wouldnt trust the chanis too much though. Quote
Jetro Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I'm having a terrible sense of Deja Vu... Wasn't this shown on this forum only one or two days ago? No video or LDD instructions then though. The model is certainly worth the attention. Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 This one really gives me an itch (or is it the music ? ). I really like this one even if is a bit high on its legs. Quote
telecasterman Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 How did I miss this? Actually the legs are pretty stable, it was the central part of the body that needed some re-enforcement to keep it from sagging under the weight of the batterybox. No problems with the chains, at least so far... Also, I've just put up on Youtube a new red and tan spider if anyone's interested. Quote
Fyredog Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 That is one Bad A#@ spider! Great job, and I love how you can control direction. Quote
Burf2000 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Extremely cool! So many great builders about now. Quote
fred67 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 That's just fantastic... I love it. Every time I think about making a "bug," I get mired in thinking of how to get all the gears working in sync, and keep forgetting I've got a bunch of chain links. I like the "L-Shape with 1/4 elipse" pieces, too... I have a ton of them and can never think of how to use them (then again I'm a city/train/castle boy and only dabble in technic). Quote
