Meatman Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 While I consider myself a Lego "Purist" I actually have no problem with the whole chroming process if it is done right and professionally. Not only are those chrome/gunmetal colored wheels awesome looking, but I fully approve of using them on models since we are basically stuck with 2 options, Black or the MdStone. The gold on the other car is a little too gaudy though, but still nice. It looks like he did a very solid job on this new car. The scissor doors look really good. I haven't seen too many models that had "Full" scissor doors that looked noteworthy, but these seem to be an exception. From looking at the photos on brickshelf at first glance the chassis looks quite similar to his Gallardo model, but upon further inspection they are much different. I see added suspension, a working steering wheel as well as a HOG one. The do both share the same design with the center differential, but that does seem to be a good design. No transmission this time either, but I am not sure if you could really fit a transmission into these somewhat small scale technic cars. I know people do and have done it in the past with modifying the 599 GTB and Enzo models. Never the less, this is a very very impressive model that I would love to have on my shelf or desk. Quote

I'd probably stay as a pure LEGO enthusiast and use black wheels instead of chrome. I am not a bling bling guy. A+ model! Quote

Don't they come out in the new sets later this year? yeah i know. i think crowkiller sent him all necessary documents to create one. i am already low on budget with all these sets that i have to buy from LEGO this summer! at least this wont be discontinued, right? I do not have anything about non-official models on my web site, but there are photos of several of the other models on my Brickshelf page. Meatman Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I have the chassis for the murcielago about 95% complete. It is very solid. I also like the suspension. A transmission simply would not fit into this model, if you did cram a 5+R one in there, it just wouldn't look right. Plus I think the Murcielago has an automatic 6 speed transmission if you really wanted to keep the car pure. I have no clue where to start with the body(Nor do I have that many yellow parts) Quote

LOL, no one can flame you for your opinion , you are absolutely correct. I think the basic chrome looks good, but the gold is just a little too much. But you can't deny that the The black chrome looks awesome. I had really never seen black chrome before. I heard of it, just never seen it. No reason to get flamed for wanting to stick to LEGO. IMO it would be different if they were just painted out of your own basement, but having them professionally chromed to where they won't scratch or chip is different. I would really like to see them up close to see the quality. I wonder how much that costs to do? I also agree with Paul sticking to actual Lego parts, when I see models where people are using non Lego wheels and other parts, it just kind of turns me off of that project. I also don't have any issues that Paul painted the front panels yellow because he knew that the yellow ones were coming out. I suppose he could have painted the panels on that black Gallardo as well, but instead he went the right route and just substituted the best he could. Quote

Here is the thing, If you don't like the chrome look, you can always use the black or stone gray Traditional ones if you want to be absolutely 100% Pure, but after seeing these, I would have a hard time going Pure That is the beauty of this, they are 100% Lego wheels and not something found off of an RC Car. I contacted the place that crow got these done at, and they only do large orders. Quote
