Mortymore Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) I don't know if someone noticed already but battery box for new trains 7938 and 7939 is not the Li-Ion 8878. Check the instructions of this train sets Battery 8878 New battery box 6xAAA Be careful with the charger 8887, since I suspect that it's only suitable to charge Li-Ion battery, and not some NiMH that you will probably use with the new battery box. Cumps PS: Does anyone know the reference for this new battery box? Edited June 4, 2010 by Mortymore Quote
Zerobricks Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I dont think you can even stick a charger in the new box. Now we know why the lithium battery had so much free space...to be same size as the new one. Quote
Mortymore Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) I dont think you can even stick a charger in the new box. That make sense. In that case, having to take the battery box out of the SET/MOD/MOC, and unscrew de case to replace batteries, will be an headache. Cumps Edited June 4, 2010 by Mortymore Quote
Holodoc Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I don't know if someone noticed already but battery box for new trains 7938 and 7939 is not the Li-Ion 8878. No one said it was the same. Both reviews of the freight train 7939 pointed out it was driven with AAA batteries. But good to see photos of the interior nevertheless! The Li-Ion box itself is sold for >50€ (in Germany), so this was clear by looking just at the price of the train sets that these will never be sold with a rechargeable battery box. The recommended way of charging the battery boxes is: 8878 with 8887 and the new box? Take out the batteries and do it with a 'standard' charger. Quote
Mortymore Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) I see I have to check out that trains reviews. Since I didn't saw it spoken here in the Technic corner, and the boxes look the same, it could be misleading. I'll take a leap to trains section now. Cumps PS: @Holodoc You could have said sooner that you had a big family picture Thanks for your enlightenment. I was told that the LEGO part number for this battery box is 4578042 Edited June 4, 2010 by Mortymore Quote
DLuders Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 As noted in this EB post 3 weeks ago, the new battery box WILL come in handy! Quote
