Barman's "Parts to Couple Linear Actuators"

"Barman" posted this wish for future Lego Technic parts, to "couple" Linear Actuators together ( http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=376249 ). If it ever became reality, think of the increased extension that one could get on excavators and other heavy equipment....

There are already nice solutions for connecting two or 4 actuators, without new (future) parts being used.

The only thing missing is that red sliding part, otherwise, M Motors have to stand between the cylinders.

Problem is even with a sliding red gear the friction due to drive torque might rip out the shaft from the u joint.

I don't think the Ujoint will withstand the torque for 4 cyllinders. I assume that if you use 4 of the them arm of excavator, loader etc will be very heavy thus I have serious doubts about Ujoint capability of passing along such a huge torque.

There could be two U-Joints...one for each cylinder pair. like in this picture:

That way the U-Joint can survive. I know because I used 2 new U-Joints on my big Excavators Arm, which was veeery heavy.
