ApophisV Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 HASc-2 Miaplacidus: This was meant as a quick build to get the time passing, but somehow it needed much more time than usual. There are two reasons for it: a) This set has only few useful pieces that SNOT constructions need (zero L1 Technic pins!!! |-/ ) and b) the most basic parts coming with it are plates, so a SNOT construction is almost the only way to create a good looking, 3-dimensional ship out of the parts! :-/ I started making the wings in classic style, no SNOT or whatever, just two plates with bricks inbetween. For getting them into the angle I wanted I had to use a small trick: Rubber band! The cockpit itself is kinda.... Bah!... After making the wings there really weren't anything useful left. So it's just a bunch of leftovers thrown together... :-$ More pics after Brickshelf Moderation! Opinions welcome! :-) Quote
SuvieD Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 This is a great little variation. It has a thick stout look. I can picture a dozen of these blasting out of a bunker to meet an oncoming attack. The guns are simple but don't look tacked on and the shapes are overall good. Good use for very limited parts. Would look better if redone with more options. *y* overall. Now the real challenge is to make a turret out of the hut to go along with this. :-D Quote

I always imagined dozens of this craft surrounding a huge Starship (ISD or Enterprise sized) that is in a Spacedock for maintaining. Actually I wanted to add some technical arms instead of the two red 2x2 tiles at the cockpit's sides instead of the weapons, but the set's limitations didn't let me :-( Would look better if redone with more options. I don't understand what you mean!? *wacko* Now the real challenge is to make a turret out of the hut to go along with this. :-D I might give it a try some time in the future! ;-) Quote

Kikuichimonji Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Very nice indeed! I tend not to make alternate models out of SW sets nor use the pieces in them, but this makes me want to give it a try. I might make an alternate of the new B-wing for the FBTB contest. And the cockpit is actually rather nice ;-) Quote
Starwars4J Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 It always amazes me what people can do with a little time and creativity 8- Quote
