FinalFeature Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Very nice use of Bionicle canisters! LegoGalactus Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) This is brilliant! It deserves a frontpage(IMO) for innovation, skill and an awesome video! What you have done with those canisters is amazing! Great job and keep brickin' ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited May 23, 2010 by Dannylonglegs Quote
efferman Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Very Cool fun Project or has the June technic Challenge the Theme "Boat"? Quote
Zerobricks Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Thats just cool! But why didnt you put the canisters sideways? Quote
mahjqa Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 The lids on those tall ones aren't exactly watertight. And I needed the opening to connect them to technic. Quote
mahjqa Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 (edited) (also added this to the first post, so people wouldn't miss it) Edited May 28, 2010 by mahjqa Quote
Tomahawker Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) Another awesome creation! The video was also very entertaining. Well played! You are a brave man for putting your video cam on the boat! By the way how did you get that crane or boom shot at the end of the video? Edited May 28, 2010 by Tomahawker Quote
DLuders Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 The boat is very nimble and fast. Did you use pieces from the 8376 Hot Flame RC set ( http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8376-1 )? The greater range of the signal (radio vs. infrared), plus the two 5292 "Electric RC Race Buggy Motors", make for an effective Lego boat. Maybe you can sail it out to the North Sea for some "sea trials"! Quote
RohanBeckett Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I love the faith you have in your construction.. and the weather.. that you risked RC gear.. motors AND a mobile phone out there! :D Would be interesting to see how fast someone could make a Lego boat.. even if the hull wasn't 100% lego.. Add more motors? Have you tried other Props? Would be interesting to compare these parts for underwater propulsion: Also.. it would be interesting to replicate this drive mechanism: RB Quote
Blakbird Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 The boat is very well done, but the real star here is the video. It is brilliant! Very well done indeed. I rarely laugh so hard at work. Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 And the ending is asolutely genius !! Very very funny. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I really enjoyed that one, thanks! Very innovative design, good use of otherwise useless canisters and it is actually quite fast. Great! Quote
DLuders Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 [bUMP] reshikrom786 uses Mahjqa's idea about using Lego packaging as boat floats on this new YouTube video. He demonstrates TWO 100% Lego (Technic) Racing Boats -- one with Power Functions motors and another one with Lego RC Buggy Motors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxzOU5YIT-s Quote
