Well, it seems that many fans have been using Technic Treads to make Lego tanks. "Sariel" (Paul Kmiec) has made some great tank MOCs, and even "Blakbird" has gotten thousands of tread links for his creations. There must be quite a demand for a tank kit, but due to past reluctance, the executives have decided to do an initial kit release in a very small, understated way (to test out the market and meaure customer reaction).
