dr_spock Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Greetings. I've been trying to build a self-steering multi-axle heavy transport modular trailer. After much experimenting, I've finally built a working steering mechanism. I used this real world example as a model. Here is my Lego version of that picture. My 8294 excavator isn't as big as the Hitachi. Maybe that's excuse to get the new 8043 motorized excavator. I tested it with an abnormal load. That's all the unused Lego plates I have in the world. I made a video of it working. The steering is mechnically controlled by the angle of the drawbar in relation to the trailer. Thanks for watching. Quote
Zerobricks Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Such a simple, yet elegant steering! I like the way you used springs, to gain higher steering angle on the arm! Quote
