john cleese Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 phes, why must you always be so indepth. Do your loved ones ever get annoyed by this behaviour? 8-| Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 16, 2006 Governor Posted March 16, 2006 Nah, they're not intelligent enough to comprehend much of my philosophy, so that means I have to go to extra lengths to find ways to annoy them. They're so inconsiderate... Quote
snefroe Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 If I got it sooner then I probably would have found some amusement in it, but weeks later its grown too old to be funnny.However... Probing deeper... In a way it could be foreseen as offensive. Is this implying he is unsuitable because he looks different? Isn't that discrimination? How hideous is political correctness? X-D hehe, in a way, you're right, phes. it is discrimination for a lego fig. i mean, an exo force minifig can't be anybody else but an exo force minifig. he gets "born" that way... he can't change his torso or hair style... and therefore cannot be a minifig for a viking set. sure, that's discrimination... on the other hand, a minifig isn't accepted by the Geneva convention as an individual, human being, a minifig is a toy, so there can't be any question of discrimination... happy now? xwingyoda Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I sense someone will start his "free the MFs" movement X-D :-P *yoda* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 16, 2006 Governor Posted March 16, 2006 Not quite Count Sneffy! Firstly, can't the Exo Force Mini-Figures hair be removed? Secondly, its not the discrimation of the mini-figure in the picture that's the problem, its the message the picture sends. Its no differently to that of a poltically incorrect cartoon, advertisement, commercial, etc. Obviously the images contained within the medium are not necessarily that of real living humans (although some could be depictions of existing individuals), but regardless people can still become offended by the message it conveys. I think of recent news in regards to those relgious cartoons published in certain newspapers. Look what happened with that! Quote
john cleese Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 He obviously just isnt good at pillaging and lighting kiosks aflame with a single torch. Its like if a fireman one day decided to get a job as a doctor. He cant because he just doesnt have the credentials or experience. Besides there auditions, whats to say he didnt just mess up on whatever he was auditioning for and they ended up hiring a different exo-force character anyway. What say you to that Phes? More off topic, Why dont you create a debate forum already phes, lots of other forums have one, and its obviously what we need to sooth the savage philosopher within. Quote

Phes, it's just a joke! g... what do you think if Captain Kirk would audition for the role of Gandalf in Lord of the rings? You really think Peter Jackson would have said it's ok to keep on wearing the star trek suit in the film? the joke is that he's totally out of place, and he's the only guy who doesn't notice it! the joke is that he's an anachronism, he doesn't fit the criteria for to be a viking! this has NOTHING to do with cartoons. there's no political message behind it, i don't even see the link... ApophisV Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Firstly, can't the Exo Force Mini-Figures hair be removed? Not by himself!!!! :-D Quote
john cleese Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 phes? do you fear the propaganda being distributed by the CIA just to parranoy you, so the corrupt president of the United States gets more votes to support the drug companies, which are just as corrupt who are secretly slipping poisons into everything you consume, so you too vote for the president who wants to destroy the world with his propaganda distributed by the CIA, which somehow ilogically connects to a bunch of other espionage only because the president is the antichrist and can bend the rules of logic? Governor Mister Phes Posted March 16, 2006 Governor Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) Phes, it's just a joke! g...what do you think if Captain Kirk would audition for the role of Gandalf in Lord of the rings? You really think Peter Jackson would have said it's ok to keep on wearing the star trek suit in the film? the joke is that he's totally out of place, and he's the only guy who doesn't notice it! the joke is that he's an anachronism, he doesn't fit the criteria for to be a viking! this has NOTHING to do with cartoons. there's no political message behind it, i don't even see the link... Captain Kirk was an actor portrayed by William Shatner and as far as I'm aware he didn't audition for the part the of Lord of the Rings. It makes no sense for him to be wearing a Star Trek suit in the film because he would be supplied with a costume suitable to his role. Point is William Shatner can change costumes wheras the mini-figure in the picture however cannot remove his hair. So in effect its discriminatory against him because he's being rejected for something about himself that he cannot change, in a similiar way its discriminatory to reject someone for the colour of their skin. I realise it has nothing to do with cartoons I was using them as an example of how something can be misconstrued to be interpretation as offensive. And who said anything about politics? I said "politically correct" and that wasn't a reference to politics in the government sense, I meant towards appropriate human behaviour. This Wikiepedia article will explain in more detail. PS. I do realise this is a joke but I thought I'd probe into deeper meanings for the hell of it. Just because I could! Go look at, Darkie's latest historic MOC, you haven't responded in it yet and it has to be more fun than this! phes? do you fear the propaganda being distributed by the CIA just to parranoy you, so the corrupt president of the United States gets more votes to support the drug companies, which are just as corrupt who are secretly slipping poisons into everything you consume, so you too vote for the president who wants to destroy the world with his propaganda distributed by the CIA, which somehow ilogically connects to a bunch of other espionage only because the president is the antichrist and can bend the rules of logic? The CIA? They're not relevant where I'm from. The president of the USA? I can't vote for ANY presidents unless I change my citizenship and this proganada must be highly ineffective as I have no intention of doing so. More off topic, Why dont you create a debate forum already phes, lots of other forums have one, and its obviously what we need to sooth the savage philosopher within. Are we debating? Never realised it. I was just sharing my alternative interpretation of the image at the beginning of this thread. Are you implying people should debate my interpretations?
