Aleksandar Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Eeek! I noticed that (suprisingly) none of the pirate sets( at least in S@H U.S) are availible through backorder!! This MIGHT mean we aren't buying enough pirate LEGO. We need to buy enough that soon TLG(i think its called) will think the pirate theme is a smashing hit and add the Imperial Armada and (hopefully sooner) some navy ships!! Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted February 11, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted February 11, 2009 They are not available on back-order since they are available now. So I don't understand what you are saying Quote
Aleksandar Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) I meant nothing is sold-out my bad for the bad use of "Back-order" I always thought it meant they needed moar. Edited February 11, 2009 by Aleksandar Quote
Erdbeereis Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I think it's safe to say I've done my fair share. Judging from the fact that you can only buy a limit of 5 per set, I'd say the theme is doing just fine. Quote
Patriot720 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I honestly doubt TLG will stop promoting the pirate line in late '09 and '10. I mean this is the theme that most people in this forum have been waiting decade(s) for; and I'm sure TLG is aware of this. Also, I believe there is a limit(five?) on the amount of sets you can buy at one time. Also you point out that none of the sets are sold-out yet. Well, The line is still very new, and new sets are probably being produced as we speak, so I don't understand your concern. You shouldn't be jumping to the conclusion that the line is not selling well and that we need to buy more. Sure, we can be concerned, but problems regarding the finances and sales of TLG should not be put on the shoulders of the AFOL community. It is the marketing and advertising department of TLG that will fix issues regarding the sales of their products. I hope you see my point, Aleksandar. pat Quote
Aleksandar Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 The limit of 5 per customer, I am pretty sure is to discourage Ebay merchants. -Aleksandar Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Hmmm... What you're saying is a good motive, but suggesting that we buy more? All those members that have been waiting for pirates all this time have already spent as much as their pocket can allow, and I can't even buy them until JULY! when they are released in Australia. But I think the pirate line will be doing fine. Besides, if a kid sees a pirate ship or a Power Miners set on the shelf but can only buy one, I think most kids would choose the pirate ship. It just has that adventure and swashbuckling feel about it that everyone wants to be a part of. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 12, 2009 Governor Posted February 12, 2009 Captain Zuloo raises a good point - some people can't buy more because the sets aren't even released in their region yet. Eeek! I noticed that (suprisingly) none of the pirate sets( at least in S@H U.S) are availible through backorder!! This MIGHT mean we aren't buying enough pirate LEGO. : I suspect it means your understanding of back orders is very limited. Quote
mrchris Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 i still need to buy most of them! i plan to after my holiday and birthday Quote
Admiral Blockbeard Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Well not to correct you you but they have been on back order in the past. I had noticed cannon battle at least was on back order for a good week. Plus I doubt those magical Lego machines have not stopped making Pirates since they were rumored to come out. The line is doing well. Don not fret. Said go out and buy some sets! Quote
Diamondback Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Just waitin' fer a killer deal on Brickbeard's Bounty and I'm complete... although I'm considering several more Soldier's Arsenal impulses and performing head-swaps with minifigs from other impulse sets. Quote
diabloiij Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Personally I do not think the pirate line is doing very well this time around. The sets aren't moving off the shelves at all in most of the toysrus, targets and walmarts. I know it is a small sample size but it does mean something. Quote
legotrainfan Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 (edited) If the new pirate line is a success or failure is too early to say. In many countries the new pirate sets have not yet been released. I live in Austria and I am still waiting for their release. And then you must see how well they will sell at Christmas this year in those countries where they have not been released so far. Edited February 15, 2009 by legotrainfan Quote
Admiral Bejaune Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I think we will be ok. It seems that every new Moc or Vig I see has the new soldiers and pirates populating it. I went to Toys R Us the other day to buy the soldiers fort and they were almost sold out of everything. Quote
Diamondback Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Also, take the economy into account--lotsa people are cuttin' back on the creature-comforts. Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Friday was the first time I've been able to go to a Lego store in the UK and find more than four of the soldier impulse set on the shelf, so I think it's doing fine. Also the lack of sales in the in store leaflets suggest that overall all the products are doing quite well. Quote
